When I try and grab the room, my name is fixed in the guest information. All of the other information (address, et al) is able to be changed. I suppose I could just book it and put the actual name of the party in the comments section but I would like to do it the right way.

It's easy - and I'd call, personally. I've booked reward stays at all kinds of Hilton properties from HHV Hawai'i to Scandics in Finland for others (that latter option expires New Year's 2008.) They will need to issue the certificate in the name of the recipient of your reward stay, not you.

I believe you have to call. I see no way to do it online.

You have two options. Both require calling.

1) Call Hilton and have them issue a cert in your friend's name. This will be issued electronically, and will be emailed to you. You then email the certificate to your friend, who books their own reservation. You need to caution them that the category of the property and on the cert need to match.

2) Call Hilton, make the reservation for your friend, and do the above re the cert. In this case, the reservation will be held with your own credit card.
