MilesBuzz! - Possible Merger: Delta and United

I just read on Dow Jones News that a large shareholder from Delta is asking for a merger with United. Execs from neither company have responded, however their stock prices are already seeing huge advances.

I think this is a threat to other airlines as United home is ORD and Delta's is ATL. With hubs on both sides of the country will we see enhanced flight options and admittance into Crown Room and Red Carpet.

What do you think?

Anybody have any ideas on how this would affect Alaska Air? AS has agreements with DL (and NWA, CO, and AA), but not UA. This could be good for us AS folks.
