I have never seen this: Just about to make my 4 stays in 90 days + HH Amex challenge for Gold, having stayed at silver forever...and today's mail brought an offer I couldn't refuse..."Book online at hampton.com using any American Express Card between November 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007 and receive exclusive online access to create a custom luggage tag at yourhamptontag.com."

Cute idea -- you get to upload an image if you want, or use their stock images if you feel uninspired (or paranoid - family pix not recommended for this one, other than favorite dog, cat or gerbil).

Since I made 3 reservations last week -- all using HH Amex, and at least one won't cancel :rolleyes:, I leapt at it. It looks as if the actual stay is required, but that's a bit ambiguous. "Must result in a paid stay by January 5, 2008" in small print, but "Two copies of your new tag will soon arrive at your door - while we wait for your arrival at our door" - so if you get the tags, and then cancel the stay, do they come to repo the tags?? I don't plan to do that, but as a contract-reader and -writer, I wonder...

Well, here I am reading about this - at a Hampton Inn & Suites, booked with my HHonors Platinum AMEX. We'll see... Is this for new bookings made during the eligibility period, or do old ones count, I wonder?

Nope! My confirmation number for tonight's stay was rejected. I tried one later this year, and it worked - now to get home and my image bank!

I didn't get the offer, so THANKS FOR POSTING IT HERE!! I booked my rooms for the next 2 weeks a few weeks ago and it took my confirmation # without having to re-book my stay.

I have not seen a targeted HH offer for years. Personally a personalized HI luggage tag is far down on my list of HH offer desires but YMMV.

One of my colleagues has a HI luggage tag, and has done for at least a year. I haven't taken a close look at it but it is certainly HI branded.

I wasn't targeted either, but just went to the website & put in a confirmation # and it worked for me. I wonder if there's a limit on them, and if previous stays between 11/1 and now will work. I have 3 from 11/1 through yesterday, but haven't had time to check to see if they will get me tags or not.

Some real "fun" could be had with interesting images and witty slogans. :D

I just tried it for an existing confirmation and it worked.

Thanks for the post! I used a confrmation number from back in January. No problems. The only problem I had was that I ended up spending almost an hour on it (coulnd't make up my mind).

Not to be taken in the wrong way, but could you make a reservation, give it a couple of hours to propagate, get your tag, and then due to unforeseen circumstances cancel?

I put in a confirmation number for a stay from October and it went all the way through the process... same for two other confirmation numbers from stays in September... we'll see if anything comes in the mail.

I did one with a B787, one with an Audi TT Logo, and one with a FlyerTalk Logo and my screenname as the messgae. Hopefully we'll see how they all turn out.

I do not think that will work. I tried to put in a reservation number of a valid stay at a Hampton Inn payed by AmEx, but it has not yet posted as a past stay on the hilton site yet. I could not use it as an entry into getting myself a tag. So I used an older confirmation instead.

Where did you get a decent FT logo, that's a great idea?!? The ones on the top of every page have the "Home, Forums, Members" bar that I don't want to have to erase out.

I did one for my college, my work and of my brother who passed way too young last year.

My first sets were at home when I got back last night, three sets, pretty nice. I think I have ordered about ten different sets. Sent them directly to my family members.

Well, as the OP here, I was getting a bit worried that my tags hadn't come, but they arrived Friday. My first visit wasn't until 10 days ago, though, so they probably waited until the Amex charge appeared...and now I am waiting for the tags from last Wednesday's stay.

No, I didn't need any more tags, but it's nice to have a few with a favorite photo on it!

I just got mine yesterday. Even though I put on my address and the like, the back came to me blank. I just put in another order and hopefully they actaully put on my name and address this time.

I got this offer too. I tried to make reservations last night and discovered that using the code raised my room rate by $5/night. When I removed the code, it returned to the original rate.
