Wyndham Rewards (formerly TripRewards) - Proposal: Change The Name Of This Forum To TripRewards?

It has been proposed here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=754482) by FT member boazs that the name of this forum be changed from Wyndham ByRequest to TripRewards and that the forum include the following hotel chains: Wyndham, Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Baymont Inn & Suites, Wingate by Wyndham, Travelodge, Howard Johnson, AmeriHost Inn and Knights Inn.

Would the TripRewards name be sufficient or should the names of all the hotel chains be listed such as:


Trip Rewards: Wyndham, Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Baymont Inn & Suites, Wingate by Wyndham, Travelodge, Howard Johnson, AmeriHost Inn and Knights Inn

or:

Wyndham,Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Baymont Inn & Suites, Wingate by Wyndham, Travelodge, Howard Johnson, AmeriHost Inn and Knights Inn: Trip Rewards

Or perhaps we leave Wyndham ByRequest as a standalone forum or sub-forum and set up TripRewards as a sub-forum of Wyndham or as its own forum.

Or some other suggestion you may have? We want to make finding the forum and knowing its purpose as simple and easy as possible.

TalkBoard is discussing and voting on this and we would welcome any input into this proposal.

But perhaps the bigger question is if we really need this forum? There hasn't been a post in this forum since 11/2/07. And that was one of your posts.

Is anyone on FT actually an ACTIVE TripRewards member? Those places are absolute last resorts for me (except for Wingate).

I just got an updated card the other day. I am an active ByRequest member, but allowed my TripRewards membership to lapse many years ago. My updated card shows both a ByRequest and TripRewards number.

So it appears that Wyndham is automatically enrolling their members into both programs.

Active member, although most of my stays are at Wingate. I will stay at a few other places when I am hopping for a promo.

I would say leave it as TripRewards. The website is triprewards.com and on the logo the TR is large and in very small print, almost blending in with the background, is Wyndam Worldwide. Not sure if there might be other websites out there,

Although they are scattered, there have been a few threads in the Other Chains section concerning TR.

Slightly active, but embarassed to admit it. I have 3 stays this year. Two at Super 8's, where there was nothing else within 60 miles & 1 at a Ramada in SD during opening of pheasant season when I couldn't get in anywhere else.

I also have three stays this year - two at Super 8 and one at Days Inn. Just try finding a Hilton family or SPG hotel anywhere reasonably close to Hibbing, Minnesota! There are ZERO within 70 miles.

I only stay when I can get rooms free with a BRG. Great for a one nighter near an airport or on the road to where we're vacationing.

Amazingly, although I've only paid for one Triprewards room in the last two years out of at least 50 or 60stays, I recently opened one of the letters they sent and I have 16,000 points. Not sure how that works but ...

Bevvy5, U can convert each 8K TR points into 3200 FF miles. Or wait till U get 17,500 to convert to 7K miles on 1 airline!

My FF miles are with AS. From what I can see, I can't do a conversion - it's not partnered with TripRewards. Unless I'm missing something, which is certainly possible.

I'm an active member because where I work on the road the only other choice is a Best Western. The Super 8 actually has a better free Wifi connection, clean decent rooms and a better dollar to AA mile conversion (I sleep with my eyes closed). I stay at least one night a week and the current 500 mile bonus promotion has really stacked up, 500 additional miles for evey two stays. They seem to have regular decent promtions throughout the year.
It was a blessing when they came up with the AAdvantage Mile conversion option. I coverted the 30,000 points I had accumulated. I couldn't think of a lot of places where I'd want use their points. Now I'm on direct credit to AAdvantage miles.

The so-called $25 GC version is better than the 500 bonus miles, because it really is the larger of (5500 - normal) points OR 3500 points. Then transfer 8000 points into AA 3200 miles! :)
However, there may be a limit of 2 such bonuses during the earning season, after which U should settle for the direct to AA.

Nothing wrong with some of the chains. I stayed at a Ramada in October that was just incredible. I actually asked for the manager and told her when I checked out that it was probably one of the best hotel stays I have ever had.

Not every city in America has a Hilton after all. I've stayed in Hiltons before that were absolute sh*tholes.
