Had a car crash yesterday (no person hurt) and failed to use my point break reservation at the iC duesseldorf. Called them to cancel, but it was 17.13 p.m. Clerk told that he would cancel, but could nothing say about any fees.
Anyone else here had a point break no show:confused:

Sorry to hear about your accident - glad noone was hurt.
While I have not been in an identical position, I am sure the worst you can expect is you lost your 5k points (assuming a one night stay). I would not expect any fees would apply. Let us know if there are any developments.

Worst case you're out 5K points. My guess is they won't return the points but if you call the hotel again, see if they're kind enough to comp you for another night.
Have never no-showed on a point break. I have cancelled 40K IC rates but timely enough to get my points returned.
But I have broken a "prepaid" rate or a non-refundable, nonchangeable "Global Business Options" rate in the past; typically I would call the hotel and ask if they could change the reservation. It's been either free or a nominal $25 charge; not sure if this is S.O.P. or if this was an accommodation to an RA and frequent guest. But I would definitely talk to the hotel directly rather than reservations.

Too late now but I would've asked for the Ambassador desk specifically to discuss the reservation. I missed a deadline once with the IC Barclay and they waived fees for me entirely b/c of the status.
Worse case is being charged the rack rate for the room, btw. Hope you just lose your points and that's it. Let us know how it turns out
