Budget Travel - hotel in Philadelphia near Amtrak station

Can anyone tell me a reasonably priced hotel near the train station (ZVF)? I'm making an early morning MR and need to be close, but cheap.

I'd check the University City Sheraton. One problem with Center City Philadelphia is the lack of cheap hotel space...

It has been a few years but if you are staying on a Friday or Saturday night, the Courtyard at the airport is a good option around $70.

Another choice (not as good) is the Red Roof near the airport.

Airport area is cheaper than 30th st train station/center city phila though, just something to consider.

As noted the PHL airport has some cheap hotels but most have no shuttle service. The Septa R1 train runs from the airport to the 30th street Amtrak station every 20 min. It stops at the University station very near the Sheraton and 8 minutes from the Hilton Inn at Penn. Nice hotels but usually not cheap.

Are you MRing on Amtrak or at PHL(airport)? If you are MRing on amtrak you should consider taking it a few stops out of the city.

Check out The Devine Tracy - it is pretty darn close to 30th St station and if you can live with their strict/strange rules, it's a helluva deal on a hotel in University City...
