Hadn't seen this in any of the searches, but:

Dear GodOSpoons,
Hilton HHonors® Account Number: 666136907

You’re one of our valued Diamond VIP members and we’ve noticed that you’re not currently on track to maintain your VIP status beyond April 2008. With all the benefits this elite status brings, it’s something you’ll want to preserve.

You’ve been chosen for an exclusive opportunity to automatically keep your Diamond VIP benefits through April 30, 2009: simply apply by November 30, 2007 and get accepted for the Hilton HHonors® Platinum Credit Card from American Express. Once you’re approved, you will keep your status and continue to enjoy these special benefits at all Hilton Family hotels. And there’s even more good news because you can earn up to 22,500 HHonors bonus points(1):

10,000 HHonors bonus points with your first Card purchase(2)

10,000 HHonors bonus points for your first four stays at any Hilton Family hotel charged to the Card — that’s 2,500 points per stay(3)

2,500 HHonors bonus points for signing up an Additional Cardmember(4)
And earn additional HHonors bonus points for every eligible dollar you spend on the Card:

5 HHonors bonus points at Hilton Family hotels and properties worldwide, restaurants, supermarkets, drugstores, gas stations, and more(5)

3 HHonors bonus points on purchases everywhere else(6)
Best of all, the Card comes with no annual fee, and you get American Express® benefits for traveling, shopping, dining out, and much more. Maintain your status now.

There are so many benefits to remaining a Diamond VIP(7):

50% bonus on all HHonors Base points earned while a Diamond VIP

Guaranteed reservations availability — book by midnight 48 hours before arrival (subject to the extraordinary demand of the hotel, as determined within hotel’s discretion)

HHonors Hotel Rewards with no blackout dates (subject to the extraordinary demand of the hotel, as determined within hotel’s discretion)

Upgraded accommodations(8) or amenities

Don’t miss out on these privileges — apply today.

Same offer came in with my monthly statement, so of course I finally jumped.

I'm a little short this year (Stays Completed: 22, Nights Completed: 45), but need to do that the remaining six by February (no problem). However, as this reduces an enormous amount of travel stress and deals with my short term loss of the Scandic chain in Finland, I took it.

Anyone else getting this? How close are you?

Timothy

You probably want to remove your HHonors number in the email you quoted.

Oh, if only that WERE my HHonor's number, they'd have a better idea as to what kind of guest I could be. ;)

Wow, That's a fantastic offer. So all you have to do is apply and be accepted for the HH Amex card and you will retain status. You don't even have to spend a cent! This is a no-brainer.

I rec'd the same e-mail, signed up for the card, and noticed when I rec’d my AMEX card in the mail, the attached documentation states:

- Automatic enrollment as an HHonors Silver VIP, with a 15% bonus on all HHonors Base points

- Upgrade to an HHonors Gold VIP for one year when you make eligible charges of $20,000 annually to your card

Since I am already a Diamond, I knew there would be a problem, so I looked at my acct online, and it still shows Diamond thru April 2008, not 2009 as noted in the first e-mail.

I first contacted AMEX, who directed me to HHonors. I phoned them last night, and discussed it with them. They took an incident report and someone would get back with me. I rec’d a response today stating I must go back to AMEX, it was not a Hilton promo -- side note, the e-mail had my HHonors Diamond number in it, and I've NEVER given AMEX that number; never had a Hilton credit card in the past.

So I phoned AMEX once again, they looked into it, and said they could not help me with the promotion, it would be HHonors. AMEX conferenced me into a phone call with the Diamond Desk. They told me to forward an e-mail, which I have. There has to be an easier way! I'll forward their response.
