I was told that NZ system wouldn't recognize other *G status besides their own Air Points members,is this true? According to my other call yesterday, *G status should be recognized, please everyone clearify me

Secondly, does NZ accept waitlisting on Business Class revenue booking? I was told not accepting.

Thanks for answering.

As long as the FFP number is entered correctly, the NZ system should recognise it automatically as Star Silver/Gold, although if the status is new it may take a few days to tick over (depending on how frequently the other airline updates their database). Make sure you enter the leading zero that some FFP numbers have (ie a UA number 01234567 must have the 0 entered).

Star Gold is the highest 'shared' category amongst the airlines, so an NZ Gold Elite would trump another airline's highest category pax, when travelling on NZ services.

I may be wrong, but I believe you're able to waitlist on full fare Business Class (C), although not the discounted booking classes..

I booked a couple of NZ tickets online a few months ago and printed out the boarding passes. My STARGold status was displayed on both of them: AC*G followed by my account number. So as long as your account and airline are properly entered when making the booking, status should transfer to NZ's system.

Not to hijack the thread but...

Last month I flew UA from LAS to LAX connecting to AKL on AirNZ in BP. The domestic check-in at LAS refused to recognise my NZ*G status for priority tagging of the luggage. As a result my luggage was LAST off NZ5, which was already 1.5 hours late.

Boarding was a relatively similar story - *G is recognised after the UA awards programmes and lumped in with general section 1 boarding.

To their credit, using UA for international sectors has been blissful thus far.

I had an issue about a month ago where it would not recognise me as a :-:G for seats up the front.

I referred the agent to another booking, which did show me as :-:G she then flagged me a s a VIP, noted that i was :-:G and assigned the seats.

Apart from that, status has showed up every other flight.

I am with BMI DC.

Did you at least get a gold boarding pass? I have never had a problem having my AC status recognized on UA, and in one case received an opup, and in another trumped a UA STAR-Silver for an cert upgrade. As for the luggage, that is a benefit you should not have been denied if your NZ card shows STAR-Gold and you used a UA Business Class check-in. (Some coach agents don't have the tags, but still not a valid excuse.)

UA has changed the boarding priority process to recognize its 1Ks and other elites, but being behind them and First/Business Class customers shouldn't be that bad if you're in coach.

No gold pass - nothing at all in fact. I even had to wait in the HUGE (largest I've ever seen) security queue at LAS, while others got to use the express lane.

The flight itself was economy only, which isn't an issue for me as it's only a short 1 hour hop to Los Angeles anyway. But I was disappointed that she seemingly couldn't care less about the *G status.

AC have been really good on domestic and international sectors, as have UA on international sectors but not domestic.

It's just about got to the point where I need to take a complete copy of the *A regulations with me in my briefcase where-ever I travel.

Generally in USA flashing any gold or platinum coloured FF card is enough to get access to the elite security queue. It doesn't even have to be relevant for the flight you are taking - most BP checkers have no idea about strange foreign cards.

I've always disregarded the signs that only identify US elite progrrams and use the priority services as a STARGold, flashing my Aeroplan card. Seems to work fine.

Same experience for me : showing my BD DC's Gold card is enough to get access to elite security queue in the USA.

Similarly by showing my UA *G card for an Air NZ domestic flight in coach, my bags were priority tagged and I had access to the domestic Koru Lounge. Shouldn't be a problem if you show card.
