I'm hoping to do a quick ANZ trans-Tasman mileage run, in late November or early December, to reach UA 1K status. I only need about 2500 EQM, however a simple SYD-CHC/WLG-SYD is looking rather expensive given what it is. My understanding is that T-class is the cheapest fare that will get me UA miles, and at this stage that works out to about $815 RT.

I'm just wondering if there are any better options, or better (mile-earning) fares to be found, and I would greatly appreciate any tips and tricks! :)

Not for TT as the lowest fares are not points earning. Maybe if you come over here and fly some of the trunk routes on a mid tier fare you will be earning the 500 mile minimum so five flights? NZ is not the best airline to try a MR.

I believe the UA website is incorrect stating a 500 mile minimum for NZ flights. I've only ever received miles flown

I have only recived flown miles, however why would you say the UA wesite is wrong?

The website is right, the miles being posted are wrong......

I only credited 1 trip to UA MP this year, and that was my TA's mistake, but I got 89 miles from AKL-WRE, I need to get round to emailing to get that fixed....

Of course you might be right. I have only ever had actual miles flown posted and tend to believe the UA FAQ http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=445613 over the UA website which has many inaccuracies. If you are right I am owed a few miles. Will be very interested in the response to your email

By that I mean, if it's on the website, why would they not give you the miles... I guess the website could be "wrong" but if you have booked, flown and credited in good faith it would be pretty low of them not to honour the T&C's on the website, might just ask today in the RCC @ LHR...

Okay, I'm finally about to book this! Just want to confirm: T-class does earn UA RDM and EQM, yes? The UA/*A FAQs seem to indicate so, but I just want to be sure - this is my one and only shot at reaching 1K this year! :)

Yes. The non-earning paid fare classes are LGSKP
