Las Vegas - Choosing between Bellagio - Venice - Paris - Wynn

My wife and I will spend a weekend in LV after seperate conferences. Won't spend a lot of time in the room itself, but we're looking for elegant surroundings. We stopped by the Bellagio last time and found it attractive, but none of the other three had opened at that point. What would people pick as the best overall, and as the best for the money (say $250-300/night)?

What dates are you going? Weekends at Bellagio and Wynn would start in the low $200's depending on the weekend.

If elegance is your preference I would recommend the Tower Suites at the Wynn. I would also recommend that you book it through Virtuoso (www.virtuoso.com). You'll pay the same rates as the Wynn website but also get $20/person/day credit for breakfast at the Terrace Pointe Cafe. It also includes complimentary spa passes each day for both of you if you want to use any of the workout facilities, saunas, etc. Subject to availability, you will receive a complimentary upgrade to an Executive Suite (930 sq ft) by booking through Virtuoso.

If you're going to be there when the weather is "warm/hot/very hot" then you also have access to a private pool when you stay in the Tower Suites. All in all, the Tower Suites are my favorite place to stay...and home to some of the nicest, most "anti-casino"/feels like a resort property on the strip.

With your budget, I'd go with the Four Seasons or THEHotel.

BTW My definition of elegance may differ from yours.

Well, I'd say take Paris off the list. It's fine, and I stay there from time to time, but I don't consider it "elegant." Even if you're in a nice suite, the rest of the property, and the service, isn't elegant.

If you won't be spending much time in room but want a classy surrounding then it is either Bellagio or Wynn. Try for a lake view room if Bellagio or as indicated above, go with Virtuoso for Wynn. Four Seasons is nice if you're not into any gambling but can still take in the Vegas experience by walking over to Mandalay Bay. However, it will be stretching a bit for $300/night at Four Seasons.

If you do want to spend some time in the room then for the $300 limit go with Wynn or Venetian. In fact, brand new room at the Venetian Palazzo Tower beginning 12/21 will get you a basic suite for $220. Enjoy your stay.

I'll echo the Paris comment-it's in a different league than the rest. I thought the Wynn was nicer than the Bellagio, but my favorite place to stay is TheHotel. It's not opulent, but very quiet/reserved and you get a "removed from Vegas" feeling until you walk into the Mandalay. Then you're back in Vegas again...

Thanks for the tip. I'm doing a one night midweek stay in Dec, and as I've already qualified for Plat at Starwood didn't need a stay credit. I'm trying to decide between The Hotel ($139 incl $25 f/b credit + suite upgrade) or Mandalay Bay (same deal only at $99). I'm not big into gambling, nor a big party goer and usually stay at 4S when travelling with hubby (he's staying home). My question: how great is The Hotel compared to Mandalay ? I like more modern look hotels, and have already stayed at Wynn, Venetian etc-- and didn't like their style. The $40 diff isn't that much, unless the rooms are pretty much the same. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

First of all, don't be excited about the suite upgrade. All of the rooms are suites and the difference between the two offered at TH is minimal. They are all VERY nice-much nicer than a typical MB room. Personally, I think the atmosphere difference between TH and MB is huge. Like I said, one feels like you're far away from Vegas, and the other is a "typical" nice Vegas hotel. For the $40, I think you're way ahead at TH.

BTW, that rate is really outstanding for any time of the year...

THEHotel has been marketing non-suite rooms (called THEDeluxe or something like that) and I think that is the promotion the poster is referring to.

MB is a lot closer to the look and feel of Wynn & Venetian. THEHotel has a much more modern, sleek look and feel.

That's interesting in that I've never been offered that room, nor have I seen it on their website. Didn't know that existed....

I just looked at the website. I picked a date-Dec 12th- the suite is $149/nt and the room (deluxe) is $109.00/nt. I'm wondering if they converted suites to regular rooms to offer this....

Four Seasons is nice if you're not into any gambling  I'm not sure I understand that statement at all. The niceness of FS has nothing to do with whether you like gambling or not, IMHO. If it's so painful to have to walk through or near a casino to get to your room (which you don't even have to do at, say, MB), then you shouldn't be in Vegas to begin with... (And if you're there for a convention, then just stay at the Courtyard or Residence Inn...)

It's really annoying though, to have non-suites at an "all-suite" hotel. Makes it more difficult to book the suite with my corporate travel agent.
FWIW, there is even at least one Embassy Suites that has non-suite rooms (in Irvine, CA).

OP requested "elegant surroundings" hence my suggestion for FS and FS can be accessed as a standalone hotel without going through a casino. Mandalay Bay is above average but not what I would consider elegant.

The deluxe rooms at The Hotel are generally second bedrooms to the larger suites.

Good. You really only have 3 options for "elegance" which are Wynn, Bellagio, and Four Seasons.

Rooms are great, and I think it's worked its way up to #1 on TripAdvisor (FWIW).
