Been searching for street maps of several Chinese cities (Beijing, Nanning, Shenzhen ....) in vain. Are there anything like viamichelin and mappy for Europe; mapquest, maps.google and others for North America exists for Chinese cities? So far, I have seen pdf version of some cities as well as photograph of paper map and posted on web sites as tif or gif files. None of the above is interactive.

I think you know what I am looking for. Any assistance will be appreciated.

there are some decent pdf maps on the web (in both english and chinese). my formula:

-find 'em
-download 'em
-search for destinations (you need a better pdf program than acrobat reader in order to do this)

I have been looking for an interactive map of Beijing for some time now and there seems to be nothing out there unless you read Chinese.

moondog,
I used essentially the same formula, but had come up rather disappointed. Do you have specific links that might help my search? TIA

I always use the Ctrip map (http://www.ctrip.com/supermarket/ctripMap/mapIndex.asp)I find the google maps easier to navigate, but Ctrip maps cover Macau (The only one that I have seen so far) and Hong Kong (But for HK I would rather use centamap.com, it is bilingual and zooms in to the building names).
Thanks.

www.edushi.com has 3D maps of several Chinese cities (downtown only, as far as I can tell). They have the advantage of you actually being able to see renderings of the landmarks and buildings. Mousing over then tells you what their names. They take forever to load, however. Some of them even have transport lines/bus stops listed. I believe they're only in Chinese, except for Hong Kong which is in English as well.

Good job ^. This is better than none. Now I can use a pdf printout (with Romanji and Chinese) and collate some main roads, at least for Beijing.

For the life of me, can't find the map link in ctrip (English). Can you re-post a map link? Thanks.

This site is really interesting. Love to see maps in 3D (only if they add Romanji on top of Chinese).

Centamap site is extremely slow when try to open magnified street map! May be just the time of day when servers are overloaded with traffic.
I like to way it displays street names and points of interest in both Chinese and English.
