So from some research here it seems like this flight has the old config. (777-300).

Any advice still on best seats in C class for this route?

Yes, old seats. All seats basically the same, except that in a 2-3-2 configuration, you've got middle seats that you probably want to avoid just because they're in the middle. YMMV, of course.

Can you tell me more about these seats? I have to go to Seoul Friday or Saturday for work and SIN-ICN is open in C on KE with 30k DL miles for my wife to join me. I'd rather fly OZ with the new seats on the 333 or SQ, but too much dinero to bring my wife along for the ride.
How bad are these seats....? Like current UA C? Worse than current UA C? Like domestic US F? Are they so bad I should take NW SIN-NRT-ICN and spend all day in the airport/airplane? Will I get any sleep?
thanks for the help...

The seats are fine. They're not KE's new shell seats that serve mostly USA and certain European routes (those are like SpaceBeds on SQ). And they're not as big as BusinessElite on Delta. But they are pretty darn big and they are pretty darn comfy, much better than domestic First on US airlines. They're basically like short- and medium-haul intra-Asia Business Class seats on SQ and CX. Even on the painfully short BKK-ICN overnight runs, I've been able to get some sleep, with a little help from Mr. Ambien. Having the longer flight from SIN should be fine, giving you more chance to sleep. Plus, you should have the entire flight back to SIN to enjoy during waking hours.

30,000 Delta miles for intra-Asia Business Class on KE is one of the best deals in the program. Mr. Megatop and I cashed in 60,000 of his miles to get tickets for us BKK-ICN-KIX, returning NRT-ICN-BKK. Could have flown nonstop BKK-KIX and NRT-BKK on SQ, but would have cost more than double the miles and mucho dinero to buy the extra ticket and the SQ seats would have been basically the same as KE because they're intra-Asia SQ Business seats on those routes. So, yes, I'm taking the longer route to fly KE Business and save the mileage and $$$. For you, absolutely take the shorter route. And just forget about NW, WBC or not.

Bottom line: do it.

Thanks for the advice, I'll survive, at least until my wife sees the seats tomorrow night. If it's like the SQ regional, I'll grudgingly do it. There were no award seats on the SQ flights for my wife, which really was a downer as I found a ticket on the SQ 77W for me in C for slightly less than this KE ticket is going to cost. If you can believe it, KE actually has the balls to match SQ dollar for dollar in C and F! Let me think about this... 77W in F or on KE's dynasaur?

Wow- I was so not impressed with this flight. And it's the second intra-Asia flight I've had lately on KE like this.

The seats were terrible, they are like the 2 class SQ 777 jubilee with the blue "camo" faric, but the cushions on the KE plane are soooo worn (and rock hard as a result). The leg rest is too short for me and doesn't tilt up high enough. Topped off with the fact that it's a 6 hour overnight flight and they feel compelled to provide service after takeoff and then 1 hour 40 minutes prior to landing, all with the lights on. In other words, there was only a 3 hour window for undisturbed sleep.

Meanwhile F was EMPTY. They should get a clue and realize that F should be sold for the C price. By the way, it's not as if they can even sell out C. The Asiana and SQ flights yesterday went out near full. KE's F cabin was empty and under 50% in C, that's a testiment to what people flying this route think of KE.

I purchased my C ticket at the counter at the airport last night ($3,300 US!!!) and asked about F. They wanted another $1200 US! They are smoking crack... Skyteam has lost me entirely for SE Asia now, I'll probably refund the return half of this ticket and take SQs 77W home on Thursday. Next time I'll fly Asiana or SQ and spend 60K miles for my wife's ticket, which although 2x the Skyteam award, provides a seat that is representative of current standards, not standards of 2000.

Ouch. Scathing review. :o

Just to clarify for the benefit of future readers, stephenm flew SIN-ICN, not BKK-ICN (title of thread), although the product is very similar. On the late-night BKK-ICN runs I've taken, there was only a brief drinks service in C after takeoff so that pax could sleep. And both C and F went out full.
