Feeling the pinch and would love to share the Holidays with family??

I have found many fares for Christmas Day travel under $50 Round Trip after applying the $100 off United e-cert (readily available on CC).

I just booked by myself and junior on ua.com ORD-DEN-ORD 12/25 Depart 6:00AM return departure 6:40PM. Grand Total per person $24.80.

Fares on some surrounding days such as the 24th with returns on the 25th were only $20 - $40 higher.

ORD - DEN - ORD $24.80
ORD - WAS - ORD $48.80
ORD - STL - ORD $32.80

OMA, PIT, CMH, DAY, IND, BUF, CLE, SDF, MSP, DTW etc etc
UNDER $30 All-In.

Fare looks available now through January. I was just checking x-mas which is usually blacked out for the good deals and fund this.

May be an opportunity for ORD people to top off some EQM's if the routing can be extended.

Nothing against last minute EQM (at a reasonable price) but I think we should stick to posting actual fares, since ecert is not a free publicly available discount.

Where can I get this e-cert?

The UA $100 off e-certs are available on CC as well as eBay & Craigs List. Also, sign up for email alerts from UA where they are emailed often throughout the year.

I checked several other cities including a couple SJC-ORD that came to $10.80 ow. Everything below $90 ow gave an error message to call UA reservations line.

Anybody successfully booked a trip below $50?

EDIT: I see that OP has but anyone else?

Pray tell the dates and times... I could use another 10K for 2 more SWU

I found most weekends with +2 stops when adding $100 certs at $23 ow.

Looks like I can do 4 one way trips SJC-LAX-ORD-LAX-SJC... on 12/1 and on 12/2 SJC-LAX-ORD-SJC for about $100 and around 4200 EQM's per day... still 1600 EQM's short.. but you can't beat the price... I need to find two more e-certs... Hmm....

I've only checked dates in Nov and Dec and none of them are bookable for me either nonstop or 1 stop. This is the error:

There was an error in processing your request. Please see the message below for instructions.

We’re sorry, but due to technical issues, the quoted fare for your selected itinerary is not currently available for purchase. Can someone please PM and help me with this? I cannot seem to make it work.

Thanks,

If you get the error message it is because the BASE fare was under $100 and it will not allow the ecert to be used.

With most cities you must pay at least $24.80 (that's the best I found) in taxes and fees.

Don't forget, you can use them on one ways also ;)

While this is a good fare - I would agree with others that the actual fare be posted, not minus coupons one might have hanging around.

Per FareCompare, the $104 fare has been extended from ~5 Jan to ~13 Feb.

And yes, I'd prefer that quoted prices not assume coupons, unless absolutely everyone can very readily get said coupon (i.e., "printed in today's newspaper").

Oh, and with a connection in both directions (I like MSP), this is a fair price for a segment run, all on UA/UX metal.

Got in with a $29.50 ORD-SAN; but, lost the return. Fare went up $100 before I could lock in the return . . .

So, I just HAD to do SAN-IAD-MCO-IAD-ORD-MSN for $76.60 instead to get home :D

I was able to grab DEN-ORD r/t on Dec 5th for $124.80 ai. Using a $100 e-cert brought it down to $24.80 + $10 for cert on ebay.

1776 EQMs brings it down to .02 CPM.

Whatīs the easiest place to get these ecerts? I didnīt see anything on CC right away, and Buy It Now on eBay is at least $25.

I just bought 3 more today for $9.50 each on ebay. Do a search for "United e-cert".

Can anybody recommend a method to find base fares within certain price range in specific fare classes (the ones that the e-cert are eligible for). Iīm doing it manually, and itīs very time consuming.

So will you rent a car and drive from MSN to Chicago or did you take the bus to ORD from Madison?

Absolutely. You should post the actual fare and then you can comment on your cpm based on using a coupon, but don't assume that everyone has such coupons available.

EWRsince89: In this case, I am taking the bus to ORD as my return flight: SAN-LAX-IAD-MCO-IAD-ORD-MSN, takes right home :)

TrojanHorse: These e-certs can be had easily on CC. A Marriott Gift card offer will score you several replies. Usually end up in the $10 each range.

For SFO/OAK based FT'ers, there looks to be tons of "L" availability for SFO-DFW in Dec., which has a o/w base fare of 101.39, great for the $100 e-certs. Even better is that these quick SFO-X-X-DFW turns can be done same day.

What kind of deals are being had out of IAD?

I'm searching T/W travel in Dec as well as 12/6-8 or 12/20-22 travel..

not finding a ton that qualify as "great" discounts even using the certs

Beat me to it. I was just going to post the same thing about IAD/DCA. Even if you pick other dates (into Jan), there aren't a lot of good weekend trip opportunities either.

I haven't looked a ton into Jan, but I was looking quite a bit to a variety of destinations.. no where in particular except not the Northeast.. but not much shows up that I would consider a deal

In searching for the best deals, inmy case out of ORD, I am finding that WN cities are those which UA is competitive on a one way basis. THis being the best use of the o/w fares and the e-certs.

Not sure if UA is being competitive out of IAD to match all the BWI WN flights; but, they should at least match the IAD WN markets.

MODS - suggest removing the "X-mas day only language in the header. This fare seems to survive well before and beyond the Holidays.

Note about the certs: there's growing suspicion that these are fraudulent. See the discussion at the UA board:

Best I found for IAD was:

SJU: 41.00 w/ cert each way.
LAS: 29.00 w/ cert each way. This is good via LAX or SFO.
MIA: 20.00 w/ cert each way.

Both were available yesterday, however the LAS seems to have gone up 20.

Again.....you may want to read this thread (if you didn't catch it above).

There is some serious questions on using the purchased certs.
