bmi diamond club - Newbie question about the qualification year

I'm a bit confused about how the gold qualification year works and when I need to start working on my requalification.

I'm hoping to be comped Gold from my CO Platinum. That may or may not happen, but I'm going to assume that it will this week, say on 30 Oct 2007. Based on that, I will have 12 months from when that takes effect (so until 31 Oct 2008) to get my 36K miles, right? Starting on 1 Nov 08 I'll have to get 36K more, right? Just trying to make sure that I understand when and where the miles go and plan a couple runs for early '08.

Thanks,
S.

You need 38k to requalify not 36k. Your other assumptions seem correct to me.

My understanding is that when you are elevated a status, your calender immediately resets. And in the case of Gold, you need 38,000 status miles to retain Gold else you get a soft landing to Silver status.

You get 12 months from turning Gold to get another 38k status miles.

If you fail you drop to Silver.

However I believe your Gold is good for about 13 months, allowing miles flown late in your 12 months to post and a new card to arrive before your existing ones expires.
