I'm looking at setting up a large group trip to Las Vegas next year during March Madness. Does anyone have any experience with booking groups in the hotels?

- How many rooms need to be booked to qualify as a group?
- What sized discount is typical for a group booking?
- Any extras thrown in (free buffets, casino cash, etc.)?

Assume 15-20 booked rooms. I'd probably be looking at a mid-tier property (Luxor, Monte Carlo, Planet Hollywood, Ballys, Flamingo) but would entertain other options.

answer :
HET 20 rooms will count as a group. For Paris (which I just worked out for someone last week), you get around $10-$15 less per room (than the lowest rate available). You sign a contract, pay a 10% deposit (refundable up to 30 days before). 30 days before you need to pay (in full) and provide a rooming list.

Unless you are dropping major skrilla for F&B, this is NO big deal to the casino properties (at least Paris and Bally's) --
they will NOT guarantee room type, room location or ANYTHING else --- but, you do get the rate locked in.

For Wynn, you need "30" rooms to be considered a group

answer :
at HET $10 to $20 off the lowest rate at time of booking (not really an incredible deal...)
Wynn was around a $30 to $40 discount per night, IIRC.

answer :
probably NOT, and definitely NOT at Paris and Bally's (unless, of course, you plan on dropping major $$$$ on F&B or have some BIG players with you)
Really, they are gonna sell the rooms anyway (probably for more than you will lock in right NOW) --- so.... they don't need to provide incentive, IMHO.

The "group" rate (which I took care of for a friend) for a big convention week in April was $139/night (AT PARIS)
regular best price (at time of booking) on harrahs.com IS $149/NIGHT
to guarantee a VIEW was an extra $40/night

Good Luck !
