SAN FRANCISCO -- A suspect in a six-year-old murder case in which a 15-year-old Daly City boy was brutally stabbed to death was recovering at San Francisco General Hospital Tuesday after attempting to escape by launching himself down a 25-foot embankment at San Francisco International Airport while still handcuffed.

Carlos Maldonado, 28, who was extradited from Miami on Saturday, was recovering from non-life threatening injuries he sustained after vaulting over a concrete railing from the upper departure level to the lower arrival level at San Francisco International Airport, according to the Daly City police.
