Anyone else ever ordered from there? We've been customers for a few years, delivery only. Always been very happy with the food, delivery time, and menu selection.
Had a massive craving for the hot & sour soup tonight (to balance out the severe head cold I picked up) so we decided to order. After getting through the typical language barrier banter of ordering and giving them our address, phone number, and cc, the woman asks how much we're going to tip. My wife tells her that we'll pay the tip in cash. She asks again, and again my wife gives the same answer. So she asks again, and my wife hands me the phone while explaining what just transpired.
I explained that the tip will be in cash. The woman says (and do your own English to broken-Chinese-English conversion here), "But your house is far away, and we need to know how much you tip." I explained that the tip would be determined on how long it takes to deliver: 40mins, more; 70mins, less. She again asks how much because "some people tip $1 and it doesn't cover gas and fees."
I told her that we tip well and have been ordering delivery from them for a long time. She reluctantly accepts this and I confirm that she's not expecting cash for the bill.
After discussing it, we decide to call back and cancel the order. When I ask to speak to the manager, I find out that woman IS the manager. I told her why we were cancelling and that we would no longer be patrons of Cathy's Wok. She didn't care one bit, and actually seemed happy not to have to deal with me.
Since it appears that I can't complain to them directly any further, I decided to share (aka vent) here.
