Probably won't be any flights to Pensacola, FL from Sioux City. Too bad. Pensacola used to have nonstop service from Jacksonville that was snicker-worthy, in a juvenile sort of way.

Sioux City officials petitioned the Federal Aviation Administration to change the code in 1988 and 2002. At one point, the FAA offered the city five alternatives — GWU, GYO, GYT, SGV and GAY — but airport trustees turned them down.If they didn't like SUX, why didn't they pick one of those? (OK, I can guess why they didn't jump at GAY, but the others seem innocuous.) SGV, in particular, seems t fit well.
