Hi Starwood Hotels SoCal - welcome to Flyertalk.
Good news that Mammoth is opening a little earlier, but the website currently will not allow bookings in early December - any chance online booking will be available for stays before Jan 15?

Also, if you are planning any specials to boost the occupancy rate in the early days (hint: bonus starpoints always go down well:D), how about posting them here as that would be something members would benefit from. Can't think of a better way to get your service up to scratch at the start of the busy season up there than a few informed flyertalk trip reports.

Hi Aussie,

Unfortunately there won't be any chance they will open up the bookings prior to January 15th, 2008. We will be doing a hotel offer that will include lift tickets although I'm not sure that it will include points. Stay tuned and check your email for offers to SPG members for this property.

It's a great location and a beautiful property.

Welcome Starwood Hotels Southern California! are you aware that there is an on-going discussion of this property?

(If history is any indication, Cheap Elite will likely link to it, then the MOD will close this thread.)

I too agree with Aussie: your post appears to be an effort to drum up business, yet there is no online booking for the opening, nor any "special" pricing on the specials page you linked to.

There are a lot of us who'd been watching & anticipating the opening of this hotel for a couple of years, and look forward to the opening. But we need some "enticement".

Best wishes in the final weeks before opening.

Hi Starwood So Cal.

I just booked 2 nights in August on Stapoints. I was extremely excited to see Starwood opening a new property in Mammoth, I live in LA.

After booking two nights, I was told that there is a Mandatory $25/per nightResort charge along with the Category 5 status. Being a Platinum member I have never had a resort charge added to a starpoint stay.

I would understand if it was winter time and the charge included ski storage, ski shuttle, ski etc, but summer time? Am I paying $25/per night for free internet?(I am sure you include Gym in the $25, but all properties comp the gym fee for SPG Platinum members)

Thank you for your help.

David

(PS: I originally was under the impression it was 25/per person/night. I stand corrected that it is just 25/per room)

Not only is your property a category 5, but you are also going to charge my wife & I $50 extra per night? I find that kind of ridiculous. Being a Platinum member I have never had a resort charge added to a starpoint stay.

the charge is per room not per person, at least thats how it was at the Westin Whistler. As a plat guest I was able to get it removed, but at the same time i also got walked for 1 out of 3 nights, stay ended up not costing me any points at all.

Not sure how all of you are getting resort fees waived. I stayed at the Mission Hill Resort (as a Platinum) and had to pay the per day fee. Same at Whistler and Maui too. I think that perhaps this is a YMMV kind of thing.
