If the introduction of online boarding pass is a major relief for many airline passengers, the future will look a little brighter. Thanks to the power of mobile technology, boarding pass will soon take the form of a digital bar code in your mobile phone.

I had a PDF of my boarding pass on my mobile phone and have used that to get airside, but that was in Europe and then I went to a transfer desk in order to change my flight and get a new boarding pass. I see no reason why the PDF boarding pass' barcode wouldn't scan fine, but didn't try that.

The TSA will throw a fit since they have nothing to scribble down on. ;)
