Is the old F class lounge (to the right entering) still used at all?
Air New Zealand Air Points - Old AKL F Class loungeView Full Version : Old AKL F Class lounge Kiwi_FF Oct 15, 07, 8:59 pm Is the old F class lounge (to the right entering) still used at all? cavemanzk Oct 15, 07, 9:44 pm I belave that the old F lounge is now being useds as a crew room. nz_crew Oct 16, 07, 1:48 am Caveman is correct - that's where we go for our pre-flight briefing from the Flight Service Manager. For those who are curious (no doubt a very short list) the briefing generally takes about 10 minutes and consists of us introducing ourselves to each other, then the FSM gives us a brief rundown on the flight (passenger load, number of Gold Elites/Golds, special meals, expected turbulence, aircraft registration, flight time, and generally anything out of the ordinary) and we then have a discussion about two safety related scenarios and the correct procedures to follow in each case, just to keep safety at the top of our minds. We are divided into 'pods' of 150 or so crew, who fly amongst themselves about 70% of the time, but you still find yourself meeting people you've never met before or haven't seen for years! AndDee Oct 16, 07, 2:19 am nz_crew: I am curious, thanks for the insight! So you must all shudder when you hear the rego for that dud 744 ? I can't remember the one that always seems to have trouble! CHC Kiwi Oct 16, 07, 2:57 am Thanks nz_crew: most interesting! Taking the thread off topic a little, but do briefings also include mention of particular pax on the flight? I'm not really referring to VIPs like the PM etc., but just ordinary elites with (perhaps) an interesting history with the airline? nz_crew Oct 16, 07, 4:32 am AndDee: ZK-SUH ("Dunedin") is the aircraft we don't like - it was originally with Varig who seem to have cheaped out on the specs a bit - no cold water taps in the galley(!), a less spacious crew rest, a strange and incovenient layout of the overwing economy toilets meaning two of them open directly into the face of the exit row passengers, and it really struggles to maintain the Economy zone temperature, more so than the others. (It also seems to be prone to snags more than the others). CHC Kiwi: Very ocasionally specific Elites will get a mention - for instance, if the FSM has flown with them before and knows something about them, or if they're travelling for personally important events (marriage, honeymoon, funeral, etc.). The expectation is that they all get recognition during the flight, however. |
