Jfk to lima, nonstop Lan Peru
I was just in Peru doing a week long volunteer program with Cross Cultural Solutions.

My flight was at 1130 and I barely arrived in enough time. Taking the subway from midtown was not fast and I should have left earlier.
I didn't wait in line and was quickly assigned a boarding pass for an exit row seat and given a lounge pass. I didn't skip the lounge on purpose but it was outside of security and I had a hard time finding it. After a short security line I was at my gate. The flight boarded a good hour early and I was given "preferente" on my boarding pass since I have AA platinum status. Once on board I noticed an older plane, no in flight entertainment except for a large screen. I was shocked at the amount of legroom I had in the exit row. I enjoyed talking to my seatmate who is a columbia univ lecturer and consultant on corporate social responsibility.
We were served two hot meals on the flight, a regular dinner and a hot sandwich for breakfast. I slept most of the flight. We arrived around 630am just a bit late.
Lima to JFK, Lan flight 530 1150pm arrived 830am.
After getting a taxi provided by my volunteer program I was at the airport nearly 3 hours early. Really 2 hours or 1.5 would have been sufficient but I didn't arrange my cab. I accidently walked up to the upstairs area confused by some of the signs (dumb on my part, but I hadn't slept much saturday night and was exhausted, literally). There was no line at checkin and I was given another exit row window. The ease of receiving exit rows was great. I went upstairs to the telefonica internet place and spent 2.50usd for an hour of internet. I should also comment that there is no oneworld lounge in Lima which is annoying.
After getting some food I went through customers and went to my gate. I had sometime to kill and decided to get one of those chair massages which was right next to the gate. I paid 10usd for about 25min of a really really good massage. I gave the guy the 5 soles in change I had left as a tip (1.75usd).
After boarding and getting my duty free vodka I got on the plane. It was a brand new 767 300, new seats, totally clean. I walked by the new business class seat to my bulkhead exit row. The seat had personal ondemand tv's with a ton of programming. (I had problems with the menu system though). I didn't have my computer but there was a regular us style plug too, and I saw two usb plugs. Really great.
We were served a sandwich as a snack, then I slept about 6 hours and blissful sleep. I normally don't sleep that soundly. I woke up to breakfast which was an omelette or a sandwhich. I had a sandwich which was decent and the fruit.
I was awake about an hour before we landed. Customs and immigration was a breeze. I had to wait 15min or so for the A train and was home in a little over an hour.
