Apparently this is old news, but I just found out that CX is now offering new Y-class seats that don't let the person in front of you to recline 180 degrees! I absolutely avoided CX whenever I can when I flew Y because the person in front of me *always* reclined their seat until it was in my lap. So I guess I don't have to be afraid of CX anymore, especially since the entertainment and meals are so much better than UA! Hrmm...maybe it's time to switch to AA so I can take advantage of CX on long-haul flights!

Has anyone experienced these new seats??? Are they actually *comfortable*???

"Since May 2007, Cathay Pacific has introduced the first of its luxurious new seats and interiors on all three classes...Economy Class travel has been revolutionised with the introduction of our new cabin design to increase personal space. Our new fixed and uniquely contoured back design allows a passenger to recline without intruding on passengers seated behind while the adjustable headrest removes the need for an extra pillow. Furthermore, the relocation of the literature pocket has also increased space available for legs and knees thus providing extra comfort."

Ergonomically, no.

Short haul they're fine. But long haul, it's a killer on your lower back!

I concur. :( The Y seats don't recline at all. You just slide down and forward. Great for the fellow behind you.:p The new Studio CX in the new seats, however, it far superior than the current one. ^

CX are touring the US with all their seats in a truck if you want to see for yourself....

I thought the Y seats were slouchy and didn't really recline more than about 5 deg. J seems claustrophobic but great for sleeping, and F... goes without saying.

But long haul, it's a killer on your lower back!So the correct strategy is still to look for a row with empty seats?
