I recently flew for the first time on EOS, the business class only airline that operates from London Stansted to New York JFK, so thought I would do a report on my flight.
In summary, it was an excellent experience, and I highly recommend EOS to anyone thinking of travelling on the major LON-NY route. ^
PS: I didn't review the return leg, as this was a 11pm overnighter and I just slept all the way. One thing I will say is that the bed is the most comfortable of any I've ever used as a bed.

Ah I have been waiting for this one.
Great report PhilH. ^
Those seats do look quite spacious. Oh for a 10 minute taxi to lounge experience at LHR ;)

thanks for the report, Phil!
did you think the bed was better than in GF First in the A330? I had no problem whatsoever sleeping in those beds.

Yes, I thought the actual bed itself was better. However GF's major advantage is the A330 itself, which is quite a lot quieter in the cabin than the 757.

Sounds interesting - though EOS is not an alternative if you are based outside the UK. But from reading this report and some other reports about the Business Class flights out of DUS on Privatair, EOS seems to have the better product.

The other thing I forgot to mention is that on the way back, you get pyjamas, which was quite a surprise in a business class outfit, rather than first class. ^

I just had another flight on EOS yesterday (short notice business trip to NYC) and I thought I'd update with some further details:
- (Rather disappointingly) the same menu, although this time I had the steak and it was absolutely delicious - one of the best steaks I've had on a plane
- Immigration at T4 JFK was a breeze, hardly any line at all ^ (this was on the EO5 4pm departure and, for this week only with the 4 hour time difference, a 7:55pm arrival)
- Same annoying, invasive security questioning at STN :td:, although train to lounge in a little over 10 mins again ^
- Flight very empty, maybe less than 50% full, which meant great service, but slightly worrying from a commercial perspective
- Following on from the above, I'm noticing quite a few offers at the moment - I qualified for the free iPod/35k points deal and I note there's another Q4 one now for a Wii/40k points, hope that's not a sign they're struggling for business...

Surprised to read about the PJs. Definitely an enchancement from when I flew EOS last year. Maybe they were tried of pax digging out various collections of BA, CX and VS PJs onboard :p

I took EOS back in January. They had the PJs then. You just have to ask for a set. (They're available both ways if you ask).

Phil,
Thanks for your report(s) and site, always good to get views from others (unfortunately I do not have the time myself, so I am limiting my reports to the comments field in my flight log)
Based on your posting of the VIP14 offer, I (re)researched EOS and also came across your trip report again. For the September trip (E03) you wrote "the delays for immigration were huge and it eventually took an hour to get through. "
Luckily this was not repeated on your most recent experience with EOS.
Immigration at T4 JFK was a breeze, hardly any line at all ^ (this was on the EO5 4pm departure and, for this week only with the 4 hour time difference, a 7:55pm arrival)
EOS states on their site "After landing, we'll ensure that you clear Immigration and Customs with ease and escort you to your ground transportation. " From your experience (and Alex's on Scofs' site) it sounds like that is a bit overstated. Was that the only inconsistency, or are there more parts of their promised service which were lacking in delivery?
Overall, opinions seem to be positive, so I might just try them out and spend my last vacation days on a trip over the pond to visit my brother and his family for X-mas and/or do some AA runs to get some points into freshly started BAEC year.
Thanks in advance for your further insights.

That is a bit of a mystery comment! Let me explain what happens:
at JFK: You are "escorted" from the gate - but what does this mean? It's fairly easy to find Immigration and there is no fast track, so if there is a queue you just have to wait. An EOS agent is then milling around by the luggage carousel, presumably sorting out those people who have ordered ground transportation (expensive fares only). If you're on a remote stand, the bus will take you to the immigration hall anyway.
at STN: Again you're escorted to immigration (via the monorail from the satellite terminal), but no Fast Track, so it's all a bit superfluous. Then the agent hangs round at the luggage carousel. After leaving Customs, there is a small EOS stand which doles out Stansted Express tickets and the like.
To be honest, it's not a major part of the service - it's something nice that they do, but it doesn't make a major difference to your journey.

Yes, I'm still working on it :o! I've got the flight reports done (including op-up to BA F on the LHR-LAX sector ^), just need to write the diary. After I got back I was dealing with enormous amounts of work and just didn't have time. I'm hoping to get something up over, if not before, Christmas.

Thanks for the quick reply.
So in summary, the escort through and fastracking is only occurring on departure, not really on arrival. I guess the quote from their site is indeed a bit overstating reality.
Thanks for sharing the offer, I have decided to give them a try. I hope my boss agrees.

Top report. ^ EOS really do sound like a 'proper' airline.
