On my flight to London on the 9/10 CX255, I flew on the new product it was neither B-HOT or B-HKT. Also I noted further refinement to cabin interior. does any one know how many 74A there are now?

You might be flying the latest 74A B-HKU...

CX255 09OCT was operated by B-HKU.

There are four 74A's now, the other one being B-HKF.

Siamstationed, can you describe what these refinements are?

I flew CX 252 in F on 14 Oct and was surprised to find that none of the laptop power on the aircraft was working. Is this true of all of the 74A aircraft?

I've never used the power ports onboard the 74As so can't comment... but if anyone's interested, B-HOT operated CX252 on 14th Oct.

I'm flying LAX HKG on Nov 6 (or +-1 day) and wondering if CX885 is flying with one of the 74A. I checked the seat map of CX885 and Y starts on Row 30. Does that mean it's a 74A? If not, anyone know if any of the 3 LAXHKG flights is 74A?

Thanks!

None of the LAX flights have gone 74A yet.

I checked the seat map of CX885 and Y starts on Row 30.

Unfortunately, Y starts at row 30 across most of CX's fleet (with the exception of the 74J which starts at row 36) so one would need like at the F/J seatmap to determine whether is a B744/74J or B74A.

Interesting they have commenced refurbishment already, I thought B-HKV was going be the fourth B74A, but didn't realise they are converting more than one a/c at the same time.

Supposedly, CX885 should be going to the new config starting nov 1.

I checked for you up until the 20th, 885 still offers old FC configuration. I did not check any further. I remembered checking way into Dec, then it's the 74A.

Oh yes I just realized the Std 744 Y also starts from 30...anyway, I'll take my chance and see if there is any surprises on 885 on Nov 6.

I think 885 has a better chance of getting the 74A then 881/883 right? That's the only reason I take the morning flight (885) back…you know, it's kind of waste of time...

THanks guys!

i just bought a ticket in j on 883 for february. the seatmaps were not working on the cx website so i couldn't tell what type of plane. since i bought on line i could choose my seat from a pop up seat map. the first row upstairs appeared to be 81 even the though there was a number 80 in front of it but it did not have seats. do you think that is the confiquration?

There are three ways I could think of to tell:
1) if there were only two seats across the upper deck then it's the 74A
2) if there are four seats across the upper deck then it's a 744/74J
3) if there are rows 89-92 then it's the 74A

However all the versions of 747s in CX's fleet have a row 80, so I don't know why it didn't show a seat in the pop-up.

80H/K are for crew on long-haul flights and therefore not available to passengers. They are passenger seats on short-haul.
