Because of a contractual arrangement, I MUST fly with OA transatlantic ex JFK to ATH and then on to Mykonos.
The outrageously poor in flight service has been trumped once agin, and I couldn't believe it.
Upon departure, a flight attendent dead-heading back to Athens rushed onto the aircraft, and settled into a seat next to me, with various and sundry bags and carry-on luggage.
She attempted to jam a large bag under the seat in front of ME, but I politely and firmly refused to allow her to do so. She mumbled a valgarity in Greek under hear breath, but having sme understanding of the language, understood what she had called me.
After takeoff, I began to notice this person had a distinct BO problem. and then, she decided to remove her shoes.
UGH!
Not to outdone in the outrageous treatment department, when the so-so quality meal service was delivered in the coach section, a flight attendent from F class actually had the gaul to bring this OA deadheading flight attendent seatmate a F class meal, complete with wine!
They spoke for a few minutes (my BO seatmate complained to her about my not allowing her to stow her junk under MY seat) and finally meandered back to the forward cabin.
Outrageous behaviour, but not surprising treatment from Olympic.
The f?A were rude, crude and sarcastic.
My other seatmate, an elderly woman, needed a glas of water to take some medication. She rang her call butto four times trying to get some help.
I finally walked up to the galley and brought her her water.
OA problems within Eurpopean circles are no secrets.
This carrier is a quasi-government run debacle that headed to bankruptcy.
As usual, the lavatories were filthy and had not been charged while in JFK.
There are a numbewr of routings to allow you to get to Greece.
Try them all, and if you are desparate amd can get no other space, than book with OA.
One can't help but wonder about the mechanical aspects of a flight operation, when everything else is so very poor in service and overall quality.
The sad part of this is that Greece is a beautiful destination, and the Greek people are wonderful.
They certainly deserve more out of a national flag carrier.
The rank and file workers resent the BA contract management, and it shows.
Sorry to be so negative, but facts arte facts.
