Hi,

I stayed at the MGM Grand last week (and got burnt on the $20 trick - see other thread) using a promo (https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=001&host=promo&code=SDM041) which doesn't seem to be linked from the main MGM page, but is linked to by a number of sites.

Anyway, the promo was for $69 a night including $25 worth of restaurant vouchers (usuable at most of the places there) and 2 free drinks at the west wing bar.

Feeling good after a great meal at Diego's I headed over to the west wing bar to get my drinks. I sat down at the bartender and asked which drinks were eligible under the promotion. I fully expected him to say something like "domestic beers and selected spirits". In fact he said "anything you want!"

My tip, after a scan of what was on offer, is this. Ask for a large 18 yr old Glenlivet. Normal cost is $21 per drink! And he didn't mess about with the measure either.

So I stayed in a room for $69, lost $20 on the $20 trick, but subtracting $25 for the food and $42 for the drinks (OK, I tipped the bartender $8) I think I got my moneys worth in the end :)

Any specifics on where the restaurant vouchers are NOT good? Thanks in advance.

I can't be exact as I already threw away the brochure that the check-in annotated to show the unavailable restaurants. I do remember the qualifying criteria was that the restaurants must accept a room charge.

From memory, I think the restaurants not allowed were:

Seablue
L'Atelier
Joël Robuchon
Starbucks (weirdly enough)

But I may be completely wrong (except for the Starbucks). It did strike me that the only restaurants not allowed were so expensive that $25 wouldn't have covered the tip.
