What can I expect on my outward journey in Heathrow? Is there food served etc.

Better than it used to be when sharing the AA Admirals lounge. Showers similar to HK, similar in size and food etc to most other CX ports such as Taipei.

Drinks-Pretty much the same as other outport lounges, but no sparkling wine/champagine is available.

Food- Dim Sum,sandwiches and cup noodles. They don't have a noodles bar at LHR as it is only available at HKG and TPE.

The F side has Moet Champagne NV and dim sums and made to order noodles and salads.

IMO, it's a very nice lounge. The main strike against it is the absence of windows: I feel you definitely would get the sense of being very enclosed. Also, I don't like way the men's toilet is laid out: I dislike the position of the urinals relative to the sinks -- they feel quite exposed.

I think the food selection is modest, but the options are enough to tide you over if you're peckish before the flight. I like sitting at the long communal bar/table while waiting for my flight.

Most important, it's a lot better than the AA option. I haven't been to the JL lounge to compare.

Then champagne was running out during my last visit to the F section. Is it upon on request or DIY from the bar?

Unfortunately the noodles seem to be the same as what you get in the cup noodles on the J side, but with wontons added, and served in a bowl.

In the LHR F lounge, they also have Risotto on the menu. This is probably a microwave meal. Never tried it though.

They are instant noodles, but better quality than the ones on J and there are more flavours.

Not that it is gourmet or anything, but I guess when you are hungry it is a good fix.

The chix salad can be good and also the dim sums.

It's rather sad that in visiting a J or F lounge you look forward to a reconstituted noodle soup :td::td::td:.

I am connecting from BA, arriving in T1, transferring to T3. The BA lounge in T1 is excellent foodwise, having fresh salads among other things.

Any comparisons between T3 Cathay and T1 BA lounge foodwise (although with only 2:35 for the connection, I'd be foolish to snack before going through FCC)?
