I searched but didn't see this posted yet - if it was I apologize for the repetition. Offer expires 10/15/07. It was a full-page ad in the Boston Globe last Sunday.
"Get a free flight in the continental US, courtesy of Citibank. Open both a qualifying Citibank checking account, with direct deposits, that's enrolled in ThankYou Network and a qualifying Citi credit card, and get 25,000 points to use for a round-trip ticket up to $450 value in the continental U.S. No blackout dates. No joke. If you already have a participating Citi credit card, you're halfway there. Visit a Financial Center today or call 866-422-0589 to take advantage of this offer." The fine print: "To receive this offer, you must open a new qualifying Regular Checking account in the Everything Counts or Citigold account relationship package, enroll in ThankYou network, and have an approved Citi credit card within 60 days of opening the checking account. Direct deposit must be established within 60 days of account opening. Customer needs to initiate one direct deposit per month for three consecutive months. Offer available with participating no annual fee Citi Credit Cards or via CitiPhone with a MA or PA mailing address between 8/1/07 and 10/15/07. Accounts opened online are not eligible. Regular account charges apply. Separate enrollment of checking account in ThankYou Network required...Bonus points will be awarded within 120 days of your satisfying the terms of this offer." I called and opened the checking account. The agent told me the promotion code is FFBP. She's mailing me the package to sign. I asked her about checking account fees. First she said I need a $100,000 account balance to avoid fees, she asked me if that was a problem, I said "yes"!! Then she decided there was no minimum account balance to avoid fees with this promotion.. My employer allows the paycheck to be split and direct deposited in multiple banks, so I figure I'll carve out a small chunk to make the direct deposit (which will be every two weeks, not every month, so I hope it works). I already have a Citi credit card.

You may want to double check on that. The eligible packages listed (Everything Counts and Citigold) have minimum balance requirements of $10k ($20k if you use debt to count towards your total balance) and $100k respectively.

Note that Citi regularly has promotions for $200 or 20k TY point signup bonuses without quite so many hoops as this promo (e.g., EZ Checking typically qualifies).

Still, an interesting promo overall. Welcome to FT!

Thank you!!! I now have 25000 Thank You points.

I live in OK and was able to use this promotion code FFBP for all our new Citi checking account and link our CitiMortgage and Citi credit card accounts for extra Thank You points each month.! See you in the air!

(Wouldn't this be more advantageous to other FTer's in the "other credit cards" forum?

Thanks acf573 and Ileftmyheartintexas. I will watch for the fees, and try to repost this in the credit card forum.

In case you are not aware of this, cross-posting is a big no-no here at FT.

Being the OP, what you should do is PM the forum moderator to "move" the misplaced thread to the right forum. You should not start the same thread at various forums. Well, I just noticed that you'd already crossposted and started the same thread at credit card forum. I will advice you to send a PM to SPAM forum and ask him to move/merge this thread to the new one you started.

As a matter of fact, I am not even sure the Credit Card Forum is the right place for this offer since it's a promo for checking accounts (per se). Nevertheless, it's useful info for those interested parties. :)

Welcome to FT!

When you PM the moderator to "move" the thread, you might want them to look at the content of the offer to discern where to place it. I believe in reading the promo, it is not only Citibank Checking, but also a CO offer. They will know where to place it.

Thanks again for the info, like I said, the offer crossed over into OK area
