Last time I was here I only got to use the Business class section...

I'm flying in F on BA back to London and was curious to know if the Wing's First Class section was much different? Any advice of what I should do? Sample anything in particular off the restaurant's menu?

It's just overall nicer. Slightly better everything (service, food, etc..). There is a sit down restaurant with a la carte (and from what I've noticed, nearly an 'anything you want' menu), rather than a grab and sit. I actually think the most fun thing to do in the Wing is take a shower. They are a waterfall style and absolutely amazing. Also, if you like spicy food, the spicy noodles in the restaurant are really good.

Enjoy. I still think its the best lounge in the world (not having been to Lufthansa's first class terminal...yet)

* Less crowded.
* There is also "The Cabanas". I never use it though.
* In regards to the restaurant, the food is excellent. If you like anything from the J lounge, just let the waiter/waitress know.
* Even if you are outside the restaurant, an attendent normally comes by and serve you.
* "The Library" where you can relax and feel quiet.
* The bathroom is also nicer.

Anyway, the F lounge is simply like an upgraded J lounge.

I overdosed on desserts in the restaurant. PHOTOS (http://tom911.smugmug.com/gallery/2804880#149742327)

My friend, you need some sort of self-control. Any overdose is not good, especially when you are about to hop on a plane.

Nah, it takes 48 hours of overeating (I read somewhere) before the extra calories turn into fat. Short-term fits of indulgence are fine, as far as I'm concerned. (Yes, 'tis the guilt that speaketh. ;) ) Well done, tom911. ^ :D

Can you actually ask for a menu? I've heard of the "special" menu where you can ask for anything you want, but never really worked out what there is to ask for....

Thanks guys... this all sounds very exciting! I'm gonna have to check out what's available on the available menu then order some NOT available... haha

I have to try out the bathrooms for sure... a bathtub in an airport - luv it

Enjoy. I still think its the best lounge in the world (not having been to Lufthansa's first class terminal...yet)

I got to check out both the Wing and the Pier last week as an F pax and they were fine -- but no higher than #3 on the list of lounges I've been to, with the LH FCT at FRA still number one by a mile, and BA's LHR Concorde Room #2 by a bit.

I was in the same boat. At both the W&P dining rooms I was never given a menu to order from. So I grazed at the buffet and just ordered drinks from the waiters.

Another thing I didn't get is why the bars don't display the available drink options? What's the point of keeping the bottles hidden?

When the Wing was built, it probably defined the new standard how J and F lounge should be. By now, there are many other lounges that are nicer in terms of environment. The Wing is still among the best. It depends on the person. I love it because of the food (other has good food too, but just not the same) and the work environment. I have been to lounges that are nicer, but more for relaxation, sipping wine and looking out the windows, but that was not what I was looking for.

BA's LHR Concorde Room #2 by a bit.I haven't been to the Concorde room (that's only for pax traveling in F, right? Not lowly OW emeralds in J?) However, my partner and I quite enjoyed the BA F lounge. I got a massage, and he snacked. :)

You can ask the waiters and waitresses what are available. My favorites are noodles.

Virgin's Clubhouse at LHR and QF & BA's joint F lounge in SIN are better than BA's LHR Concorde Room... the new QF F lounge in Sydney looks like a winner too... with one hour massages. Saying that BA's F lounge at LHR (T4) is very good apart from it's no-surpirse of overcrowning.

I can't see myself experiencing the LH F terminal anytime soon as I never fly F with them. I have a chunk of UA miles which no doubt I'll use with SQ over LH.

Are non-buffet items available in both the Wing and the Pier? What sort of items are available (aside from noodles)?

Our flight didn't leave until around 9:30 PM, and we had to be out of the hotel at 2:00, so we got there with a 1/2 day to kill. When we arrived it was not crowded at all, and there were several massage slots open. Later on it became totally packed -- all available seats occupied.

The FC section doesn't have a noodle bar, but does have the buffet restaurant instead.

The noodle bar is in the J section of The Wing. I went over there and checked it out -- wasn't all that impressed. The wonton soup with noodles I had there would not pass muster with any decent Chinese restaurant. The dim sum in the F buffet was good -- but overall the offering didn't surpass my experience last year at LH's FCT in FRA or BA's Concorde Room in 2005.

As for the non-buffet items, that's was entirely unclear. Neither for my breakfast at the Pier nor late lunch in the Wing F dining room was I given a menu when seated, so I had no way of being aware of anything besides the buffet.

I would like to clarify. There is no noodle bar in F. If you are in F, you can order noodles.

Probably not everyone enjoys the food or the environment in the Wing/Pier. OW travelers can go to another OW lounge (e.g. QF/BA or JL).

one of quirky perk of using the cx "f" lounge in hkg for me is their grapefruit juice. i am a fan of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and have found the "f" lounge in hkg serves some of the best i have found anywhere in the world -- regardless of the season.
ask the waiter/ress for a glass of it next time you're there. it's great.
