I am flying from nrt to hkg 1st class on JAL arriving @14:05 on 11/3. Departing @ 22:00 same day business class on CX (no first class on this flight). Can I access the first class lounge?
Thanks,

In this case, not unless you are a Oneworld emerald.

Otherwise, your departing flight only allows business class lounge access.

And they can be adamant sticklers, albeit in a very polite way, about the rules in HKG.

And you are sayin the Lounge Dragons at LHR or not? At least the CX people can get their rules right regarding Lounge access.

For CX flights, if you did arrive on a F Class flight and leaving on a J Class flight they often extend the F Class lounge access for your dep flight. Might worthwhile asking.

In accordance with OW policy, there should not be such access to a F lounge except for OW EM. However, it was discussed here before that a passenger flying in long-haul on CX on J/F will be allowed into the corresponding J/F lounge even though the connecting CX flight is not.

OP's case is different. The chance is not good, but it does not hurt asking.

Anyway, the Wing J lounge is already very good. It may just be a little more crowded.

Thanks for your timely relies! I guess it doesn't hurt to ask and as you say the J lounge is not exactly slumming it.

Slightly off topic, but I have a question on a similar topic:

If I am connecting at NRT from a flight in J to a flight in Y (both on JAL), would it be impossible then to get lounge access during my connection? What are my chances?

CX has two J lounges (I am exclusing the KA/OW lounges) - the Wing & Pier. If you like to watch planes, Wing is a good one. Otherwise both are excellent lounges (J and F). If you can get into F and like to rest for a few hours, there are daybreak rooms in Pier F side. Enjoy!

This should probably be raised in the JAL forum:
