Just a quick question before we head off - Is it possible to use my Bose Q2 headphones on board with Cathays new J+F as I think I read somewhere the headphones are a fixed fixture but I am unsure if this is correct. There is no point in me bringing the headphones if they cannot be used ,

Many thanks,

I'm pretty sure they 'pull out' to leave a slot. Wther the aperture fits your model of headphones, I dont know.

Even the existing J and F headphones are not fixed, however it is a three pin plug so you might need a special adaptor. I asked before in the Bose store but they don't seem to know whether it will work or not.

The 3 prongs adapter that came with my QC2 works on CX flights.

The only problem is that the socket is very hard to reach - it's like keyhole surgery. The Flight Attendant will have to go and get a torch and perform "keyhole surgery" to get it plugged in.

I tried plugging my QC3 headphones into the socket on the old First seat but it wouldn't quite fit in. The flight attendant couldn't get it to fit either when she tried (the airline adapter was a bit too wide) - this was a 2 prong adaptor so maybe that's why.

On the new J seat that CX has on its new A330, you can. The plug is in the center of the headphone holder -just unplug the CX headset. Very easy to reach. It is a standard 3 prongs but just use your QC2 adaptor and you will be fine.
