Venetian's Gold Player's Lounge is pretty nice with comfy chairs and two flat panel TVs. Eats include fruits, breads and cheeses with soft drinks, water and coffee. Newspapers include local, Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal.

Agree with kingalien that the Venetian Gold Lounge is nice, but lacks a full bar (which is a bit of a disappointment). Of course, you need to be a Venetian Gold Player to access the lounge (which, if rarely supervised ;)). Easiest way to become Venetian Gold is to status match from Harrah's Diamond.

IMO, Harrah's has the most extensive availability of lounges (Diamond Lounges) which offer a wide and varying range of food (and a full bar) at properties ranging from Las Vegas to Atlantic City. You need to attain Diamond Status to access the lounges, but this requires a moderate amount of play; and is easy to achieve for any combination VP (or slots) and/or Table player who visits at least 3-4 times per year. Access to the Diamond Lounge is for you and one companion. Hours for the Diamond Lounges vary by casino market. All drinks and food are free in the Diamond Lounges.

Diamond membership requires a minimum Tier Score of 10,000. Tier status and Tier Score are based on your play each calendar year (January 1 - December 31) and the minimum Tier Score must be achieved each year to maintain your status.

There is also a challange to get Diamond in a day [DIAD] (Casino Day - Varies by properties)

The daily Tier criteria is 3000 Base Reward Credits in one day for Diamond. Please check with the Total Rewards Center to see if they offer daily criteria for Tier Status.

If you meet daily Tier criteria, your status will expire in the following years renewal. For instance, if you earn Diamond in a day status by earning 3000 Base Reward Credits in February 2007, your Diamond status will expire March 31, 2008.

IMO, this daily challange is a great deal (though, it used to be around 1,500 to 1,800 which was a REALLY great deal). After doing the challange, since you will have had a very strong day of play, you are almost guaranteed a good number of marketing offers (free rooms) for the upcoming 6 month period.

Tier Points (Base Points) are earned as :
How you earn Base Reward Credits
$5 coin-in on reel slot machine = one Base Reward Credit ($5.50 in Canada)
$10 coin-in on Video Poker = one Base Reward Credit ($11 in Canada)
For table games and other game types, you will earn Base Reward Credits based on your length of play, average bet and the type of game

The only tricky part is the earning of Tier (Base Points) for table games. HET will NOT give you the formula for this, but I have some personal calculations and observations over the past year. Personally, it is just easier to make the tier by playing Video Poker and/or Slots (along with your table play - if applicable).

In addition, you can get a "day pass" for the Diamond Lounge from a host, if they chose to do this.

would i have this right?

at a rate of

so if i have $39000 in coin in (three trips) on a reel slot that would =7800 reward credits with another $6000 coin in for 1200 reward credits and less than this with some table play

next question harrah's would only do a challange to get Diamond in a day

for my play at mgm mirage

no off strip casinos (locals) offer lounge

thanks

The NYNY Players Lounge is located across from the Empire elevators, between the Bell Desk and the entrance to the Pool. It is behind a set of frosted glass doors marked "VIP Lounge". It is also contains the offices for the Casino Hosts. When you walk through the doors, there is a reception desk, usually staffed. The Players Lounge is to the right, the Host's offices are to the left. The receptionist will greet you, and you just smile and say "Just popping in to enjoy the Lounge." They'll say "Enjoy yourself, and let me know if I can be of any service to you." They dont ask to see a Players Club card, or anything. It's kind of a low-key secret: anybody can walk in and enjoy the "VIP Lounge". They just don't advertise or shout about it. (It's a great place to get your morning coffee and bring it back to the room, if you're staying there!)

Downtown doesn't have anything similar to a Strip VIP/Players Lounge, anywhere. (The Golden Nugget used to have one, but it was removed about a year ago during the renovation. ;))

Wow, doubt if that open hospitality lasts much longer, now that the secret is out? Asking for a MGM Mirage player's card wouldn't do much good either. Can you imagine how many folks have one of those? Heck, even if I didn't have one I would sign up just to raid their bar. :D

I wouldnt worry about it......so far a whopping 124 people have viewed this thread......besides, what I've posted is really just common knowledge among Vegas regulars.....and you'd be surprised how many folks just can't make themselves walk past a set of frosted doors with the letters "V.I.P." above them. ;)

Enjoy the lounge!

They've been cracking down on this of late with staff checking before admission, especially during weekdays.

Actually, one is supposed to be on an RFB or RFL status to visit any of the MGM property lounges (including the one at NYNY). However, as stated above, few people check the actual status of those brave enough to open the frosted doors.
