This afternoon I made the quick drive over to North Concord BART for a train into San Francisco. I had read news reports that the Blue Angels would be practicing at 3pm, and weather seemed nice enough for a trip down, and figured I'd avoid the weekend crowds. I was not disappointed.

I walked along the Embarcadero, passing such San Francisco landmarks as the Ferry Terminal, Coit Tower, and the Transamerica Pyramid. It was quite windy along the water.

I found the Blue Angels were actually in the air when I arrived about 2:15 on the Embarcadero. A lot more photos are in the featured gallery linked below.

They flew off after a few minutes (I'm sure this was the tail end of an earlier practice), so I walked over to the USS Jeremiah O'Brien, one of the remaining Liberty Ships from World War II.

While I was there, the Airbus A380 flew over (2:50pm or so).

It came back for a second loop over the Bay.

Once it flew off over towards Berkeley, it gained altitude and did not return.
The Blue Angels came back for their 3pm practice.
