I am taking Air China from HKG-CKG in Coach and CKG-PVG in First. A few questions for any with experience on the carrier:

1) Any mileage alliances with U.S. based airlines?
2) Baggage allowances - will a laptop and a 21" rollerbag be allowed as carry ons in coach or First?
3) Any last minute upgrades sold at the ticket counter?
4) Is there a lounge for domestic premium passengers in CKG or HKG? If so, are Business and First passengers allowed?

Thanks!

CA has a mileage agreement with UA. Doesn't count toward status, only milage. Keep your boarding passes, I found it doesn't always get credited but UA is fairly prompt after a letter.

My experience is that they find a way to fit anything on a CA domestic flight!

Have not tried to upgrade but first is not all that great on the smaller planes I have flown (737s). Similar to US domestic first, but it may be better on a larger plane.

Sorry, don't know those airports. CA's lounge in PEK is very nice.

Good luck.
