I called Amex today to ask if they could set it up a designated third party (e.g. PA) who can call up and book flights/hotels on my card via travel services, or book restaurants etc. They told me this wasnt possible  without issuing the person with supplementary card (which I then don't physically give them). :td:
Is this true? I thought you could set it up?! And if it is, then how can you get around it? I dont particularily want to give the third party all my various passwords and bits and pieces.....
Not sure with regular, but with Business cards this is possible. Its called Account Manager or something. They can make reservations thru PTS/CTS on your behalf.

I can't tell for sure, but I think the OP is asking about a third party making reservations for themselves.
What I meant was a third party making a reservation on my behalf like bhd87 said. I might try again, as a friend has it for his Business card but I'm sure I saw it on the "your travel preferences" form for the personal card......

I used to work as PTS agent, until somewhat recently. You can add what's called an "authorized booking agent" Just be careful who you add. All they need is your card number and phone number. They can book travel for you, themselves, or anyone. Don't forget to remove them if you need to. I've booked lots of first class air tickets for angry ex-wives and girlfriends.

I hope that change-of-employment didn't have anything to do with your presence here!

I've posted here before, and my posts have been considered helpful. I still find reading this stuff interesting. I'm not here to rant as a disgruntled employee or anything of the sort. I left by choice.

Ah, that's what I was wondering about. I've heard some companies have taken a dim view of their employees posting on boards like FT.
(Lemme guess- too many "DYKWIA?!" types for ya, huh? :) )

Yes, you can add a 3rd party booking agent without issuing a card. Mr. Cynnamin added his assistant as an authorized booking agent(?) to his profile. Just call them back & ask again.
