Hertz - First time rental SFO

Hi...need to rent a car for one day at SFO. Never rented there before, are all agencies at the same airport location? All on or off site? Trying to choose between Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, or National but want one in-terminal if available.

Well, none of them are in terminal, they are all a train ride away to the rental center.


It's not even on the airport map, just an arrow pointing off the screen.

The train is free though.

San Francisco International Airport’s Rental Car Center allows travelers to pick up and drop off rental cars at one convenient, central location. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty car rental counters are located on the fourth floor of the SFO Rental Car Center.

A number of off-airport rental car agencies are served by free shuttle service from the SFO Rental Car Center. Shuttles for ABC, Airport, City, Fox and Payless rental car companies stop at the south curb of the Rental Car Center upon customer request.

FYI the shuttle train takes forever and when you go to return the car it's absolute maze around the airport trying to find the drop off location. Alot extra time.

Thanks guys for the info. I actually decided on Enterprise since it was about $20 cheaper for the one day. Since they are both in the same location no problem.

Interestingly enough I rented an SUV since it was cheaper than even an economy/sub-compact!
