We are exploring the possibility of going to Crotia and Greece next summer with our kids (ages 13, 10, and 10). I am looking for recommendations to visit, stay, experiences, etc...

I am looking for similar information and was about to post a request as well. Can anyone help with itinerary suggestions other than the usual Acropolis etc.? We will have 5 kids from 9 - 16 but they're all game to try new and interesting things including off the beaten path stuff. Anyone done a short Greek Isles cruise? We will only be in Greece for 8 nights, so we don't want to do a cruise of more than a couple of nights. Day trips?

Thanks in advance.

If you 're in Athens, don't go out in Athens. The best spots are in Kifissia (20 km North of the centre) or Glyfada (same sort of distance to the South), both of which are well-connected to the city. I imagine Kifissia is better than Glyfada, since it's got a bigger restaurant/bar ratio. If you have time, I'd recommend spending a couple of days in my hometown of SKG (Thessaloniki) in the North (indeed you can do an open-jaw going into ATH and returning from SKG or the other way round).
If you want to go to the sea, I'd avoid islands- they are too busy and expensive during peak summer and virtually deserted during low season. There are decent beaches in a lot of mainland places like Peloponnese, Halkidiki (between SKG and KVA), Eastern Attica (very near the ATH airport) and Evia.
