JetBlue TrueBlue - BOS-MCO - why so expensive in April

Any idea why things are so expensive for the B0S-MCO route in April?
B6 is in the $800-900 range when others are in the $400 range. I need to book 5 adults and 3 children for 4/18 BOS-MCO and a 4/26 return.
Do you think I should wait a while before buying or buy elsewhere now?
Thanks for your thoughts!

I'd wait...
$399/$429 adult and child fares each way per person is not normal.

Will B6 give you a refund on the difference if the fare drops? If so, what is the harm of booking now and watching the fares each week? With 8 seats needed I'd be a little weary of waiting too long, particularly for a very busy vacation time.

you can only get True Blue credit not a full refund.
the credit expires after about a year.
unless you're going to use the credit you'll lose it.
the $399/$429 fares are the absolute maximum Jet Blue charges.
so if you're willing to pay that much you might as well wait until last minute.
chances are you will be able to pay significantly less.
I have a feeling because schedule was just extended, the prices are still wacky.
they'll drop down significantly for sure!

I was looking to do NYC - PBI in late April. Found JetBlue, my usual choice, would have been about $1600 for two tickets. I don't want to wait until last minute or pay that ridiculous amount hoping for a refund. Did a bunch of research and wound up booking AA into MIA. While somewhat inconvenient at the Florida end, I got two tickets for $517. And I fly from LGA, so I save some time at the NYC end, even though I lose an hour at the destination end. Plus, being Gold on AA gives me choice seats and Business/First check in lines. I don't know what JetBlue is doing, but with that kind of pricing, I won't be flying them anymore.

Any idea why things are so expensive for the B0S-MCO route in April? Public schools in Massachusetts take their spring week off in April, usually around Patriot's Day (April 19), and that's the only week families can get away together between February and July. MCO would be an obvious route to hit up.

They will fill the seats with or without you. You pay a premium anytime you want to buy a plane ticket 7 months out. Nobody said you would have to wait till last minute, but the concept of buying a ticket 7 months out and yet still settling for an inconvenient airport is bizzare. You think that someone who is "Gold on AA" would see that.

If you can fly from Manchester you can get a Southwest flight for under $300. It is doubtful prices will drop from Boston as it is April vacation and everybody in Massachusetts goes south. Also, on your return weekend, it is the beginning of the New Hampshire school vacations.

LCC (Low Cost Carrier) ≠LFC (Low Fare Carrier)?

Funny how some forgot that jetBlue INTRODUCED low fares to this market. Southwest did it in others, jetBlue did it here. This is called competition.
I didn't even look at the calendar, but by the sounds of it I am guessing this is for Passover/Easter week. Additionally, fares usually drop.
To the OP, Welcome to FT! Since you're booking 8 people, try pricing it out only for 1. Sometimes, you get a better fare. If this is true, book separate reservations.
