New Star Rules releases with more SQ surcharges, including the expected A380 surcharge.

Effective for immediate ticketing for flights on/after 28OCT07
A380 SYD-SIN v.v. SQ221/SQ220 USD400.00 surcharge for J cabin Star1/2/3, Circle Asia and Circle Pacific fare products.
(Lord only knows what they'll end up charging SIN-LHR when the A380 starts on that, but it's feasible it could be around a USD1,000.00 surcharge for SYD-SIN-LHR I guess !!)

Any surcharge for First to Suites Class? or is SQ not allowing RTW pax to fly in their suites?

No surcharges listed, but you need A class on these Star products for SQ First and there is no A (or F or P !!) showing for sale on the A380 flights, only R, so it's a moot point.

Does that mean no surcharge for regular C fares? I mean it will be the same C fare for taking A380 vs. 747 for SIN-SYD?:confused:

Not necessarily, if they wanted they could amend the fare rules/booking matrix to say:

Note 1: For flights operated by A380 aircraft where no A booking class is available, book R class and collect Q surcharge as outlined under /SURCHARGES/, or book D at no additional surcharge.

SQ 220/221 SINSYD vv. Suites class collect Q surcharge of USD 1500 each way for First Class ticket holders converted at the BSR. No surcharge if passenger travels in business class instead.

Currently there are already some carriers that don't follow the star alliance booking codes exactly and there are some exceptions. Such as NZ's premium economy product

Anyone have any idea if SQ will do the above?

Another "I do it my way" exception SQ takes. Sometimes I am wondering why the other star members still keep them in. I would not shed a tear, if they would not!

The product is in high demand (currently). Would you prefer if SQ simply zeroed it for these fares? At least with a surcharge you have a chance of getting the newer/better product.

Perhaps another reason they invented R booking class for the Suites is to keep the RTW riff-raff out. No offence intended to RTW ppl though. The overzealous managers at SQ seem to want to cut costs, no holds barred, these days.
