Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - Enterprise: switching discount codes the day of rental?

I'm wondering if something like this is possible or did I miss the boat...

I've booked 3 upcomming rentals with Enterprise using a discount code provided by my Alumni Association... nothing crazy just a 10% OFF

I've recently joined the Choice Privileges program and they too offer a 10% OFF discount with Enterprise - IN ADDITION you get 1000 bonus points per rental.

Obvioiusly I'd like to switch... but can I?

If so... HOW?

thanks,

PS. I used to love using my school discount code because I didn't have to pay the under 25 fee which in most cases was almost as much as the initial rental charge. However now that I just turned 25 I doubt I'll be using that code again, because after reading FT it makes much more sense to earn free stays with my new cheapo Hotel program.

See if the rate is the same and make a new reservation and cancel the first one.

right now the new reservation is more expensive than when I made it... so thats not an option...

I asked the person at the counter to switch my discount code from alumni to choice just for the 1,000 bonus choice points I'd get per rental. The lady claimed since i'm paying with a Choice credit card it would be applied automatically, but it wasn't.

I'm picking up another Enterprise rental car tomorrow in Chicago. We'll see if they are able to switch me.

Let us know how it turns out. It seems to depend on how you made the reservation. Enterprise counter reps are unable to modify reservations booked online or through the 1-800 number, and therefore don't always have access to the discount codes necessary to get you the lower rate. The line about the rate being applied automatically because of your credit card is BS... you're charged the rate printed on your rental agreement.

well, it didn't work in Ft. Lauderdale and now it didn't work in Chicago.

will try one last reservation I had booked on the wrong discount code in Las Vegas.

we'll see... I'm not really losing anything from Enterprise, I'm just not earning Choice Points I could have earned... but whatever.
