from the a few good coupon codes (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8415136&postcount=833) thread:
$20 off
Weekly PC 102454
Weekend PC 102793 - NO MINIMUM DAYS

Book with AAA Club Code or Hertz/AAA CDP

I've used this numerous times to get single day rentals on weekends for as low as $2-$5, i.e., for the fees and taxes since weekend AAA rates are often around $20.

Enjoy through 12/31/07.
so naturally, what's the lowest rate you can get (especially if you can get SW credit)?

here's mine:
10/6-10/6 (one day)
Buena Park Holiday Inn HLE
Hyundai Accent or similar
$1.55

And I was proud of getting a Toyota RAV4 for $17 a day including all fees! That was in the Huntington Beach HLE for 3 days.. totalling $51.

About six months ago, we needed an extra car with a bunch of family in town for the weekend. I rented a Camry for two days from my neighborhood HLE for about $20 total, all in, and it included 1.5 Southwest credits.

So on that one, I figure Hertz paid me about ten bucks or so to drive their car around. :D

Honestly, if that HLE were next door to my house, I'd probably have a Hertz car every weekend whether I really needed it or not...

i finally did my 1-hour reservation. the HLE agent was mighty confused by the whole process, but played along. final price was $1.51. and my 0.5 SW credit posted about 2 weeks later.

word to the wise: make sure you bring a printout of the reservation if you use this code, which raises a flag that you must present the coupon in person even though there's nothing in the reservation process or confirmation that says so (i talked her out of it, but ymmv).

I did a $1.11 rental at the Portland OR Downtown using this coupon.

The printout was key.

I reserved a full size rental at the LAX Marriott for 23.58 using the USAA code. I also had a $25 off coupon Hertz had sent me to make ammeds. The agent upgraded me to a Saturn Outlook XR w/ like 30 some miles.

My coupon wasn't working so the agent returned the coupon to me and I agreeded to pay the $23.58. Once I returned the car the rental never appeared on my credit card statment. I guess the $25 coupon did work.

-1.00 Canadian dollar for a 3 week hire of Ford Windstar minivan in Vancouver from BUDGET including everything!

However the lousy sods charged me extra for optional Super Collision Damage Waiver after deducting my -1 dollar rental "charge" as I hadn't included this in my booking.

This was an internet booking a few years ago and despite my many numerous attempts I haven't been able to repeat it since.

I'll never forget the Budget desk staff faces when I collected the keys!

Can anyone beat that?

102793 expires 12/31.

I've had too many free one day rentals to count. Well, less than 40 I suppose since I made Five Star but not President's. I put off posting my specifics until now because I didn't want Hertz to catch on.

At my HLE (also downtown PDX, Noah) the receipt prints out a total of $0.11. But the charge has never gone through to the credit card. I imagine there is a threshold where the credit card service charge is higher than the actual charge.

But I've gotten miles on every rental! :D

Awww....I'm going to miss this. I made PC and a bunch of BD miles after renting 3 times a weekend at under $2 a rental using this code. Thanks again for posting this...if I ever run into you, I'll buy you a drink or five. ^
