Air New Zealand Air Points - RTW - Can unvoluntary changed route be amended?

Dear Flyertalkers

I hope that somebody could help me with my first question on this page:

We booked a flight RAR-HNL (via AKL) as part of a Star-Alliance RTW. I was informed that this connection no longer exists on the requested date. It is suggested that we flight RAR-HNL via LAX or via CHC-AKL instead via AKL.

Based on the flight times, we would prefer the flight via LAX. However, as far as I can see, there is only one flight a week RAR-LAX (while there are two connections via AKL a week and one via CHC).

Thus, my quesiton: Would any further (free) change of dates be limited to this once-a-week connection RAR-HNL via LAX if we accept the suggested rebooking? Or could we ask to be rebooked to a flight via AKL (as previously booked) if we suggest to change dates later?

Thanks for all support.

Firstly, welcome aboard FT.

I would imagine that once you accept an alternate acceptable routing to you to cover the involuntary change inflicted on you, any further changes in the future would be of a voluntary nature by yourselves and would follow standard Star RTW rules. If you change dates/times, then free change, but if you amend routing, then a reissue would be required with the associated fee.
