Hello,

I am planning a trip around the world and I was thinking of using Amex travel as I could get companion airfare.

Any resources on this?
What airlines does the Amex use for 2-4-1 business tickets, what alliance is it best to do the planning with?
Has anyone done this with amex?

The Amex International Companion Program is unlikely to cut you a better deal than you would get by buying a proper RTW from OneWorld or StarAlliance. Have a look in the respective boards here for ideas.

Perhaps tale was thinking that a RTW ticket would qualify for the 2-for-1 benefit. I doubt it, but have no direct knowledge.

RTW tickets are not eligible for the companion ticketing benefit in my experience.

i think you would be better off with an RTW ticket thru star or one world.

better yet, transfer amex MR points to ANA, do a star alliance award and depending on how many miles you fly, go business for only 150k points up to 25k miles flown or 190k points for the next tier.

Yes I was hoping that it would be cheaper using the plat companion.

I am planning on flying about 39,000 miles and make about 10 stopovers.

Reading from the restrictions on the Star alliance they allow only 8 stopovers (3 of them in EU) for 220k Miles.

For US$ 10,558 you can do 39k Miles and have up to 15 stopovers, I am trying to have amex provide me with companion airfare.

Why not just call them?

AMEX does not allow a RTW itinerary on it's 2 for 1 business class program. You would have to fly on the same airline (LH,AF,OZ,CI,CX,JL,NZ,LX,SK,SA,DL,CO,VS) for the whole itinerary and usually code shares are not allowed with a few exceptions.
