I have just received my new gold card, and was reading through the guff, and it mentioned something about companion flights.
Can anyone here confirm how this works, how you get one etc etc.
Cheers.

You have to book on the phone through the gold/plat/cent card travel service.The programme is called Airline Privileges.
Quoted from the UK Amex plat site,
"Special airfares, upgrades and companion tickets
We’ve partnered with a selection of the world’s leading airlines, so you can get more when you book a flight through Platinum Service.
Buy a qualifying First, Business or Economy Class ticket through our team and depending on the airline, you could enjoy either a special fare, an upgrade or even a complimentary companion ticket*.
Our Partner Airlines
* Air Canada
* All Nippon
* Continental Airlines
* Cathay Pacific
* Delta
* Emirates
* Lufthansa
* United Airlines
And remember, before you travel we can organise all your foreign exchange for you. Just call us and pay with your Platinum Card and we will arrange delivery to your door within two working days. You can also have complete peace of mind that if you find a better deal on the high street, we will refund the difference.
*Excludes all applicable service charges and taxes. Offer subject to availability and exclusion periods apply "
With these "deals" you will have to book a full fare ticket.This is 9 times out of 10 more expensive than buying 2 inflexible discounted tickets in the class you require.I have held an Amex for nearly 20 years and I have never booked a flight through Airline Privileges.

Has anyone ever done one of these? How is it charged to your card? Can you tell from the statement that you got two tickets but only paid for one?
Just thinking that this may be open to abuse for travel expenses where you buy a ticket (at an inflated price), put it on business expenses and take a partner along for free....
