Hertz - Chances of upgrading to European cars

Hi'

I have booked a full size car next month at SFO. This will normally give me a Ford Taurus or similar. Have though received an Cadillac CTS as free upgrade once.

But what are the chances of getting a free upgrade to an European car ?
If any, what will I get ?

Thank you for answers.

Regards Georgetown

see my recent thread 'reserve what you need'

At FRA and MUC at least, upgrades are rare. Since car classes vary so much in Germany at least, I would always reserve what I require.

I've never had it happen, although a co-worker got a Volvo once. I think our chances from a full size are pretty slim. What is your status with Hertz?

Not sure how much that applies to the OP, he is renting in San Francisco.

Right, he's looking to drive a European car (guess that would be Volvo or Audi mostly in this case) from SFO.

From what I hear around here, I think more likely is a paid upgrade. The total could turn out significantly lower than booking those cars directly.

I am surprised.

In SNA and many airports, I am always getting European cars. Ford Focus is technically European and bundles of fun!

Whoops! I am being too German again! :D

Now that I read it again I am just far too confused today. Sorry! Back to the Miles and More and the Germany forums for me.....
