Hertz - South San Francisco HLE

The majority of my rentals are for business, so while price is important, convenience is usually paramount.

I have an upcoming 3-day trip to Sonoma/Mendocino and renting a car for 3 days ex-SFO. I've been able to get this to around $130 for a midsize rental. (I also reserved a 3000 point Prestige weekend rental in an A6 -- the nicest prestige without 100 miles restriction -- but may cancel; seems like a lot of points for a weekend where I'll only be driving 300 miles but then again with the new redemption rates it may be time to burn).

Anyhow, I was curious to see where near SFO I could find an HLE to use the FIFTY code. I was able to get a 3-day full size reservation at the South San Francisco HLE for $58 all-in. I figure a taxi from SFO to the Hertz HLE won't take any longer than than the air tran to the rental car facility and will cost at most $10. Similarly, on the way back, I should be able to have their pick-up/return service at least take me to BART to get to SFO.

Am I missing something? Since I have time on both ends of my trip, it would seem worth saving the money and renting from the HLE. I assume my upgrade options might be more limited there compared with the airport, but saving 50% of the rental seems worth it.

Bump -- anybody?

The Mason Street HLE has always been good to be the two times I have rented from them.

They have a lot of prestige cars locked up in the garage...

I've used the South SF HLE and all worked very well. I've also stayed (I think at the Hyatt Airport hotel--it's been awhile), and was able to return the car at the hotel and then take the free shuttle to my morning flight out of SFO. Easy, and saved mucho $$$.
