Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Christmas/NewYear's Festivities in Sydney?

I'll be in Sydney with my 20 year old daughter from Christmas until a couple weeks after New Year's... Does anyone know the link to a web site that lists the concerts in the parks and other festivities that abound in Sydney during that time of year? In years past, when we've been in Sydney during that time of year we've seen the listings in the local newspapers. However, my daughter wants to get a handle on what she might plan for, if that info is available now.

Not much help at the moment, but keep this site (http://www.sydneyfestival.org.au/) bookmarked, and check back a bit closer to the dates.

Dad and daughter should both enjoy an outdoor concert like this!

Brian Wilson to headline Sydney Festival (http://www.smh.com.au/news/arts/brian-wilson-to-headline-sydney-festival/2007/09/12/1189276795807.html)
Brian Wilson, the Beach Boy who bounced back, has been confirmed as the star of next year's Sydney Festival.

But unlike recent high-profile stars on the comeback trail who have played at the festival, he will not just be performing a limited number of shows for a high-paying audience.

Instead a free gig featuring Beach Boys hits is planned for the opening night of the festival, on Saturday, January 5, in The Domain.

Hope this suits you and your daughter. Note in the linked story two other concerts, including the new show. As you're a very regular visitor you're aware of the general options during the festival but the current director has brought in some big headliners during his tenure.
Just for those who are interested:
Wilson's third gig may draw even more excitement. He will be performing the Sydney premiere of his new show, That Lucky Old Sun (a Narrative).

The show had its world premiere at London's Royal Festival Hall on Monday night.

The Guardian's reviewer said: "[The show was] infinitely more enjoyable than most observers might have expected: the harmonies soar, the tunes lodge in your memory. Midnight's Another Day isn't the most beautiful melody Wilson has written, but it's the most beautiful he's managed for decades."

Thanks for the info about Brian Wilson BiziBB!

Wilson and this newer batch of Beach Boys are an exciting and interesting show to attend and the Domain is the perfect place for him to kick off the festival. This same daughter (of my 4 children) and I attended an outdoor Brian Wilson/Beach Boys concert in Las Vegas a couple weeks after 9/11 and it was fantastic with people dancing in the aisles and Brian Wilson as good as ever. It was just what the city needed at the time!
