NEED SUGGESTIONS FOR VEHICLE CHOICES:

I am #1 Gold and have an old GOLD CARD with no expiration date. I had the 5 Star Card which expired 4/07 and I am not sure if they sent me a new one etc. Lots of mail has not been opened you.

I booked a Full size via Hotwire.

What cars could I get assigned in LAX?

I hate Taurus's and most older Ford cars / how they drive & feel.

I used to love the Mid-size Mazda 6 they used to have. I've driven the following cars via free upgrades that I enjoyed driving / smooth:
- Mazda 6
- Solara Convertible
- Infiniti G35
- Infiniti FX35

- Mustang Old & New Convertibles >> Did not like their drive feel for some reason

I would not mind going down and taking a midsize for a more 'PLEASANT DRIVE FEEL'.

What car options would you suggest getting / asking for?

- The good drive feel as described for the cars above
- GPS is a plus
- High gas mileage is a plus
- Convertible is a plus

What could I try to get - What should I try to COAX / Request out at the Gold Counter?

I'm not sure you can get Gold service via Hotwire, but you should be able to use the Gold counter.

The 5* card means nothing if you no longer have that status.

In the F category, I'd look for a Camry -- decent gas mileage. If you want a convertable, try for a Solara but I doubt you'll get that as a free upgrade.

Thanks for the insight Noah.

I just got online and wanted to let you guys know what I did get.

I reached the Gold Counter and had some small talk and asked them about the reservation and what I could get. I said I had booked a Fullsize but I hated FORD Taurus's. Anything Japanese-ish would be good.

He said he had an Avalon. I asked... what that looked like and before he could reply, I skimmed through the CAR PICTURE FLIP BOOK and noticed Avalon was in the Premium class. i.e. GPS included.

I said, I'll take it.

It was low mileage, close to new, clean, nice all leather interior etc PLUS Hertz Never Lost GPS (something without which LA would have been more crazy than I can ever imagine).

Great drive :D and a friend said there was amazing LEG ROOM in the back which I verified later when returning at the airport.
