MilesBuzz! - United Rising In FC Meal Selection

After my meal today in United First to Orlando, I noticed all the FA's up front chatting about something, some sort of new policy. Upon investigation, seems that they were very pleased that everyone had gotten their first choice of entree this flight. The reason: Today was the first day that United has started boarding MORE meals in First than there are passengers. According to the memo they were going over, it was in response to passenger comments. For this flight of 12 seats, 15 entrees were loaded. I was surprised how such a small increase could result in a substantially improved chance at getting you first choice. Needless to say the FA's are very happy about this improvement.

That explains it! I was wondering why both Jim and I got our choices on last week's UA IAD/SFO flight -- a two-class 767 with 34 FC seats.

I wonder if they guessed at 15 meals/12 seats or what---it would seem that you could do some interesting modeling to find out with what kind of confidence interval 12 people could pick from x choices etc etc.

Statistics statistics..

or they could have just asked a f/a!

That rules!

I'm so impressed with UA lately... that was one of my key complaints and they addressed it! How often does that happen with a huge megacompany?

They continue to win my loyalty and not just with gold cards.

I think UA 1k's and PremEx's like myself have written the airline telling them their meal plan does not work and may be responding to customer need.

It could also be that U-A wanted to stop giving me the captain's steak when I didn't like what was left in first.

But my last few U-A flight's I got what I wanted.

In fact, the section is a little bit better. I prefer pasta or beef (it's not Ruth's Chris or Simply Pasta) and it's sometimes nice to have to decide between two or three good meal selections!

NOW IF THEY WOULD PUT PEPSI ON UNITED I WILL BE AN EVEN HAPPIER FLYER!!! CATMAN

I think statistics go out the window when it comes to chicken dishes on United. As for soda:

Coke - Yes
Diet Coke - No
Pepsi - No
Diet Pepsi - Yes

Simple...the United catagory, as all airline catagories on FlyerTalk, are for discussion of that airline's Frequent Flyer Program. See Main title "Airline Programs" and under United, "Discussions About United's Mileage Plus"? The Buzz is for general travel news about any airline. This thread is about meals, and not United's FF Program, so it is appropriate to Buzz. Hope that clears this up.

ok - PremEx & ranles: let's call it a draw (the Swiss are famous for compromises ...).

Most of you know of our great experience with UA and meals on our honeymoon...I'll believe it when I see it!

priority should be "tasting" it, but seeing "prepares" tasting, I agree.
